To the Sheriff or any Constable of said
County, Greeting:
You are hereby commanded that yon
summon by publication for four successive
weeks previous to the return day hereof,
is the Texas Countryman, a newspaper
published in the county of Austin, Thom-
as B. White, whose residence is unknown,
to be and appear before the Dist. Court, to
be holden in and for the county of Austin,
at the court house thereof in the town of
Bellville, on the 9th Monday after the first
Monday in October next, then and there
to answer the petition of George W. Craw-
ford, filed in said court against the said
Tilomas B- White, and alleging in sub-
stance as follows, to-wit .*
That on or about the 22d day of Decem-
ber, lc53,the said Thomas B. White and
J. E. Kirby executed for a valuable con-
siderutien their certain prominissory note,
whereby they became liable and promised
to pay John F. Crawford or bearer, ten
years from the date last above mentioned,
the sum of one thousand six hundred dol-
lars, together with interest'thereon at the
rate of eight per cent, per annum from
date. Tuat the plaintiff, George W.
Crawford, is the owner, holder and bear-
er of the said promini8srry note. That,
save and except the sum of $719 33, which
lust amount is admitted to have been paid
ou Baid note on the 1st day of May, A. D.
1854, the said note is wholly unpaid, though
long since due and often demanded. That
the said White íb a non-resident of the
State of Texas, and that he has property
within the State,
Herein fail not, but have youthen and
there bafore said Court this writ, with
your return thereon, showing how you
have executed the same.

Given under my hand and the seal of
said court, at office, in the town of Bell-
ville, this the 13th day of July, A. D. 1868.

Whereas, O. H. P. Garrett has filed his
petition in the District Court of Austin
County, against Thomas A. Brown, whose
residence isuuknown, alleging that said
Brown, for the consideration of the trans-
fer to him of lots. No 6 7 and ¿ of 8 in
block No. 301 in the town of Hempstead
Austin county, Texas, on the 9th day oi
April, 1859, executed his promissory note
for the sum of three hundred and thirty-
seven dollars and fifty cents, to R. K. Pee-
bles, trustee of the Stockholders of said
t.<wn of Hempstead, which note has been
transferred to petitioner, that the siameis
due and unpaid, and praying for citatou by
publication to said Brown to auswer said
petition, and for judgment and foreclos-
ure of the vendors hen ou said lots and
an order of sale of the aame, &c., and af-
fidavit having bean made as required by
l&w.
You are hereby commanded that vou

the said Thomas A. Brown, to be and ap-
