ONE and one-half miles west of the Victoria
and Gonxales road at Cuero. The distance
from said Ferry to San Antonio, 69 miles; to Gon-
¡nales, on the west dde of the river, 28 miles. To
the neighborhood of Capota Hills, the distance
much shortened by travelling up the west dde
the Guadalupe river, instead of the route by Gon.
zalee. The river can be -crossed at said ferry du-
ring the highest floods, with comparative ease.

the dtixena of the county of Gonxdes, State
of Texas, aud to "all the world besides," that he
will cross at hi* Ferry all citizens of sdd county
free, and all other persons at half priee tor the year

He also returns thanks to said community for
the liberal patronage heretofore given him at said
Ferry and his Mill, dtuated two hundred - yards
above the Ferry, and contracts to grind for custom-
ers as heretofore^ and to keep ou hand for sde, a
good article of Corn Meal.

your Pain Extractor, and a neighbor of mine, Judge
Wm. Menefee, in this county, had a negro woman
that was burnt on her foot, fourteen years ago, that
every month would break out and an. So that she
was an efitire cripple. He sent to me for my box
of salte; I let him have Ut he applied it, and it
has made a perfect cure, so that she is now a band,
soutod attd Well, and the Judge says he will alwfcys
keep the sdvo on hand. I have tried the salve in
my fkmily, and find it good. I would not be with-
out it for any price in tho wnrid. I have been tho
oause of several of my ndghbors trying it, and

of Gonzales, surrounded as it is l?y the wealthy
farmers in Gonzalo? county, for tho establish-
ment of a weekly journal at tho cóuñty-site—
through, or near which, the San Antoniojind
Gulf Rail-road .will pass, and in a section of
country unsurpassed for beauty of Scenery,
fertility of soil and. salubrity of climate in the
State of Toxaa-«-it is, proposed to establish at
the above named plaice, a newspaper, to be
known by the name of the " Gonzales Inqui-
rer," devoted to Agriculture, Literature, the
Mechanic Arts, Commercial Interests, attd the
News of the day.
The Inquirer will be independent in politics,
but firm and dedded in tho advocacy of the
great principles of our republican governmout,
so ably elucidated in the administrations of
Washington and Jefferson; and will especially
maintain that sound and enlightened national
