Obew.—From a detailed account in our Northern
•«changes, we gather fhat a British ship was
wrecked in May, 1864, on a desert island, eight
days' soil from Melbourne. Six of the crew were
drowned. Nineteen escaped to the shore, incl
ing Capt Dalgarno. The entire stock of provi-
sions amounted to four pounds of bread and three
pounds of pork. The captain, mate and one
sailor lived on the island one year and ten days
whan they were rescued by the Julian, for China.
Shell fish and roots sustained these men, but the
others died qne by one from the severity of their
daprivatjons.
