Mr. William Terry, of the
firm of Terry & Cook of this
city, died last night in Galves-

memory.
There was to have been a

account of the absence of
Messrs. Stillman and Tamayo
it was not held. Mr. Tamayo
is now in San Antonio with a
herd of stock for sale.

Everything, including a game
of base ball, /«as been arranged
to make the affair enjoyable
to all t/¿ut attend. A large
crowd will attend from Browns-
ville to see the base ball game
alone. See advertisement
elsewhere.
NJr. 'Turner, the -district
attorney, received a .. telegram
yesterday evening from Cor-
pus Christi stating that Mr.
John Woesner, his father-in
law, had suicided by blowing
his brains out with a pistol.—
Tiie exact cause of the rash
act we were not able to learn,
but are informed that in the
last few years he became sub-
ject to temporary fits of de-
pression that, for the time,
during which he they lasted,
amounted to insanity, and it
was during one of these at-
tacks that he killed himself.
Mr. Woesner was an old and
/¿iglily respected citizen of
Corpus ChrjUti, and during
the course of an active and
energetic life liad accumula-
ted great wealth. He was well
known throughout South
Western Texas and his sad
end is regretted by all.
The up river mail, that wa?
due here yesterday evening,
had not put in its appearance
up to t/<c time of going to
press today. Muddy roads
resulting from t/ie heavy rains
in t/ie last few days accounts
for t/#e delay. It won't do
muf/i good to growl about our
defective mail service, and all
we cau do is to wait patiently.

The interior appearance of
the Catholic church has been
greatly beautified by reeent
improvements that are main-
ly due to the untiring efforts
and perseverance of Father
1'arisot. It required a long
time to complete the work,
but when it was finished it
was worthy of the labor that
had been bestowed, and it is
now undoubtedly one of the
best finished churches in the
state.
