Issue number unknown. Pages 5 and 6 are duplicates of pages 1-2 and 3-4, respectively.

Moseley Baker founded the "Commercial Intelligencer" in 1838 using a Niles and Company press to promote his candidacy for the Texas house of representatives. James S. Jones delivered the press to Galveston in order to conceal Baker's connection to the paper. See Sibley, M. M. (1983). "Lone Stars and State Gazettes: Texas Newspapers before the Civil War."
