OPTICIAN AND SPECTACLE MA h'Kll,
IJEGS o inform the spectacle wearing public that
I i he is permanently located in this city with a well
-elected stock of the celebrated and newly invented
concave convex Brazilian Pebble Spectacles, and will
continue to keep the largest and finest assortment of
the kind in the State; aUo Mathematical and Optical
Instruments, Barometers, Sell Registering Thermom-
eters, Microsco es. Spy Glasses, Marine Glasses and
Compasses for Hunters ami Excursionists, Magnifiers
and Readers, etc.
N. B.—Orders from the country, with thestalement
of age and condition of the eyes, promptly attended
to. Pebbles and Ula**es fitted to the old frames.
JO^Spectaeles sent to order tree l.y mail.
Annexed are the following testimonials of the well
k nown gentlemen who have used and tested his glasses.
Instruments on hand to test the genuine article.
G. B. NEWMAN, Optician.
I kave tested the Brazilian Pebble Spectaclessub-
uiitted to me by Mr. Newman for inspection. I have
examined them well nnder my Microscope and Taur-
uialin plates, (the only Pebble trier.) and found them
to be entirely void of cavities, anil more transparent
than the finest of glasses. 1 have at the same time
examined some glasses represented to su rpassal 1 others
an.l contrary to that representation, I have discovered
that they are porous a-d contain small cavities imper-
ceptible to the naked eye, and therefore I do not con-
sider them so well calculated to protect the eye as those
s"U by Mr. Newman, to which no glass lenses stand
the least comparison. T. J. HEARD, M. D.
<l i.vi«To«, Nov. 13,1H6Ü.
mr. nkvvman -Dear Sir: 1 feel great pleasure in
stvlng that the Spectacles which I purchased from you
last Spring are far superior to any that I have been
using during the last twenty years. Owing to the con-
stant use of them, I find my vision so much improved
that I can now occasionally read and write without
the aid of glasses.
Very respectfully, your's.&c.,
