8m. 3. He it further enacted, Ttauthe presiding
officer, with three judges and two clerks of the elec-
tion, to be appointed by him, shall be manager* of
the election, and shall be a^rorn, before eutering upon
the dut^a of iheit' office "to éonduct the election

aud in the event that either of the managers, thus ap-
inted. shall fail to attend, or refuse to act, it shall
lawful for the voters, at the place of opening the

presiding officer shall «wear the other mapogera, and
one of them «hall administer the oath to him, which
ahall be as legal as if done by a judicial officer.
See. ,4. Be it further enacted. That the polls shall
not be ppelred.before nine o'clock A. M*,. nor closed
before three o'clock P. M., and no adjouiiiment shall
be had durir.g the day by the managers, for more
than one hour «t. any one time, ot which proclama-
tion shall lie publicly made.
S«o. 5. Be it further enacted, That each of the

at the time of iua voting, and ia cas the voter, from,
not reahling in the precinct, or from any other cause,
should not be entitled to vote for all the officers that
that.election; is beld for, at that precinct, the clerks
shall set down against his name, the officer oi

be sealed up and délivered to the Chief Justice of the

and parts of laws, in any-wise, conflicting with the
provisions of this act, except so far aa they relate to
elections for depopulated counties, be, and the same

and after its passage.

Singular Accident with o* of Herr Driesbach's Leopards—MV'nh
a portion of the circus company attached to ibe Front street
theatre (Baltimore) paraded the streeta' with a band of music,
Herr Driesbach had a leopard in hia care* The cavalcade halted
in Light street, and was instantly surrounded by a orowd of
curious idlers, among whom was a boy named Quiii who,
whether designedly or accidental*, stumbled and (fell with some
force against the leopard's snout, The animal, not liking the

and drew hia head into his month. Driesback instantly thrust
his right arm down the animal's' throat, aud a combat between
the three took placé. The growling of the animal and the start-
ling and peremptory demands of Driefbach for a knife, made a
scene of the most thrilling horror, and the combatauts had a wide
field for the struggle, air pie scope having been afforded them by
