Mrs. Roy Havemann visited her

We have not had any rain for
the past eight days, and the farm-
ers have certainly been busy get-
ting their crops cleaned.
Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Stence and
daughter, Miss Alto Mae, of Lul-
ing, spent the week-end with their
mother and sisters, Mrs. Altie Han-
se rand daughters, Misses Blanche
and Anita.
Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Simms and
family, of Lyons, visited in the
home of their father, Mr. P. Wat-
son, and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie
Moore and family Sunday.
Lloyd Gee, of Bastrop, spent the
week-end with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Oscar Gee.
Mrs. E. L. Gasper and daughters,
Misses Clara, Omega and Alice Jo,
spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs,
H. A. Price.
Misses Gertrude and Vesta Gee,
Lloyd and Thomas Gee, J. W. Moses
and Carrington Price attended
church services at Porter's Chapel
Saturday night.
COOK'8 POINT 4-T CLUB

Several of the boys from the
Cook's Point 4-H Club that were
selected to go on the District En-
campment at Palacios were unable
to go. We hope the ones going will
have a good time.
Rosa Lee Loehr dug her potatoes
the past week and reports a large
sum. She made 4000 pounds of po-
tatoes from one-fourth acre.
Annie Lee Coufal is now canning
vegetable from her garden.
All the farmers say I have farm-
ed before, but I never have farmed
like this year. Well, we had too
much rain and now we could use

some. Hope that we will get some
in the near future. Everybody busy
working in the grass and cotton.
We are glad to hear that little
Ruby Dancak has recovered from
her cut face, as she ran into
barbed wire week before last. A
few stitches were taken on her lips,
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Dancak vis-
ited with Mr. and Mm. E. C. Peters
Sunday.

Dancak.
Delvin and Weldon Peters, Mr.

NEW TABOR 4-H CLUB

The following club members turn-
ed in a good report on their pro-
jects: Theodore Dusek, Edwin No-
vacek, Dorothy Hanacik and Frank
Surovik. Several have taken pic-
tures of their projects.
HIX 4-H CLUB

Louise Cupp reports that she
sold her 4-H club project, a Duroc-
Jersey pig on May 11, 1938. She
made a profit of 111.96.
All of our club members are
looking forward to our next club
meeting.
Myrtle Perkins reports that her
chickens are doing fine.
SAN ANTONIO 4-H CLUB

club plan to attend the dance, giv-
en by the San Antonio Dramatic
Club, Wednesday, June 1.
Haiel Huddles ton, Hazel Dot-
son and Lancer Wolz are turning
in good reports on their project.
DEANVILLE 4-H CLUB

Several of our club boys were
selected to go on the Club Encamp-
ment at Palacios, May 30 to June
1.
F. J. Miman reports that out of
his 100 baby chicks only eight have
died to date.
Bertha Mae Flippin has added a
garden to her project in order to
make a better and larger record.
Anastazie Becvar reported that
her turkeys are growing fast.
LYONS 4- HCLUB
Several boys from the Lyons 4-H
club were selected to go to Pala-
cios, Texas, at the District Encamp-
ment. Over seven hundred boys
from Texas will be at this encamp-
ment We are hoping that Burle
son County boys will have-a grand
time as they do on most trips that
they take.

Our club sponsor, Mr. John Skri-
vanek, married on May 16, 1988.
Maedell Calvin, Bennie Hejl,
Frankie Hearne, Frankie Calvin
and Emil Hyvl report that they are
keepin ga good record on their
projects.
Ruth Hyvl states that her feed
expenses on her chicks in a month's
time were only five dollars. Ruth
likes her club work very much.
Bohus Hyvl reports that his pig
is gaining rapidly.
Porter's Chapel

Our community had a most en-
joyable religious week-end. Rev. J.
D. Weaver accompanied by Mrs.
Weaver, of Lyons, filled his regu-
lar appointment, preaching Satur-
day night, Sunday and Sunday
night, at noon Sunday a bountiful
dinner was served, and such a
manifestation of friendliness and
good fellowship was reminescent of
our childhood days, when, in our
opinion, people were more spirit-
ually minded than now.
Quite a number of visitors from
other communities attended church
services here Sunday including,
among others the following: Mrs.
Horace Kornegay and daughter, and
Mr. and Mrs. Ji-n Sewell from
Chriesman, Charlie Furner and fa-
mily and Willard Furner and fam-
ily from Tanglewood, Ollie Thorpe
and family, and Mrs. Hubert Faust
from Caldwell.
Mrs. F. S. Levsosky and daugh-
ter Miss Frances, of Cameron, are
visiting Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Holik.
Mr. and Mrs. Steymiller and
daughter, Mary Louise, of High-
lands, are visiting Mrs. W. E. Bry-
mer.
Willie Valigura and family, of
Temple, and Joe Matjeck and fam-
ily, of Lexington, spent the week-
end with their parents, Mr. and
Mrs. John Plasek.
Miss Francas Peceña left re-
cently to accept a position in Bol-
ing.
Roy Holik and Charles Wolff
are attending the 4-H club encamp-
ment in Palacios this week.
Mrs. Clarence Storm is visiting
her daughter in Dallas this week.
SAN ANTONIO

The San Antonio Night Owls
played the Old Dime Box team
Sunday, May 29, on the San An
tonio field. Dime Box was defeated
by a score of 6 to 7.
The San Antonio Night Owls
also, played the Yegua Cubs. The
score was 6 to 11 in favor of the
San Antonio team.
The game was an interesting one
We hope that we can play them
again soon.

Summer is waving at us; it won't
be long until its here. But I think
we are blessed to have this dry
spell to catch up with grass prob-
lems.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Machann and
family, of Buckholts, visited in
the home of their children Sunday.
They visited Mr. and Mrs. John
Kubin, of Caldwell, Mr. und Mrs
Willie Hovorak, and Mr. and Mrs.
John Machann, of this community.
Miss Ella Machann, of Buck-
holts, is Bpbnding this week with
her sister, Mrs. John Kubin, of
Caldwell.
