RESOLVED by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring,
That the Enrolling Clerk of the House be authorized
and instructed to add to the caption of H. B. No. 27 the following
words:
"and repealing all laws or parts of laws in conflict herewith."

INCREASING SALARIES OF SECRETARY TO PRISON
MANAGER AND PRISON DENTIST.

HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS, In the general appropriation bill providing support
for the Texas Prison System, the bill as passed provides for
a Secretary to the General Manager at One Hundred and Fifty
Dollars ($150.00) per month, and a Stenographer to the Purchasing
Agent at One Hundred and Twenty-five Dollars
($125.00) per month. It appears that the Secretary to the General
Manager has been paid for several years a salary of Two
Hundred Dollars ($200.00) per month; and it further appears
that the Stenographer to the Purchasing Agent is not now
needed, and the General Manager of the Prison System advises
that the Secretary to the General Manager is doing the work of
both places and is of the opinion that the Secretary to the General
Manager should receive Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) per
month, and the Stenographer to the Purchasing Agent be eliminated;
and
WHEREAS, It appears that the appropriation for the Dentist
in the past has been Three Thousand, Six Hundred Dollars
($3,600.00) per year, and the Manager of the Prison System advises
that he has been paying Three Thousand Dollars ($3,000.00)
per year and it is the desire of the Manager to continue
him on the basis of Three Thousand Dollars ($3,000.00) per
year, and through an error the salary for the Dentist was fixed
at Two Thousand, Seven Hundred Dollars ($2,700.00) per year
in the appropriation bill when it should have been Three Thousand
Dollars ($3,000.00) ; now, therefore, be it.
RESOLVED by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring,
That it is the sense of the Legislature that the Prison
Board and the General Manager of the Prison System be authorized
to pay the Secretary to the General Manager on the basis
of Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) per month, or Two Thousand,
Four Hundred Dollars ($2,400.00) per year, and discontinue the
Stenographer to the Purchasing Agent, thus eliminating One
Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($150.00) per month, or One Thousand,
Eight Hundred Dollars ($1,800.00) per year, and that the
