Dear Sir:
I hand you herewith to be filed in your office H. B. No. 112
passed by the Second Called Session of the Forty-third Legislature,
which bill I have this day disapproved and vetoed.
My reason for such action is because in my opinion the present
law is sufficient to provide for audit of public records and
officials and additional expense for additional auditors in every
county is not needed or justified.
This bill provides for the appointment of from five to fifteen
additional auditors in different counties according to population.
The effect would be the creation of hundreds of new
auditors and accountants and the next question would be who
will audit the auditors? The bill is therefore disapproved and
vetoed.
Done in the city of Austin this the 16th day of March, A. D.
