Tuesday afternoon Henry
8cbU1er and Mies Lydia Skri-
vanek went to Brenbair. where
they were married at 8 o'clock
that night at the residence of
Bob Hoffman by Rev. Clumsky.
They returned on the early train
next morning, and are now
domiciled at the residenceof Mrs.
Stanie Rippel. The bride is one
of the excellent and popular
youdg ladies of tbia place and is
well known to tbe trading public,
aa ahe was for quite awhile one
of tbe very popular saleswomen
for tbe J. F. Cobb Dry Goods
Company, while tbe groom is a
young man of exemplary habits
and has a position with T. F.
Gilley.
Mr. Blllie Hill returned from
e Pasteur Institute at Austin
t Friday morning after taking
tbe treatment tbere. He was
bitten about a month ago by a
dog that was thought to be
afflicted with hydrophobia, and
a necessary precaution went
there and took the treatment
prescribed by the institution.
He is well and in fine health and
epeaka in the highest terms of
the institution. At the time be
left, tbere were twenty-two
patients tbere from all parts of
tbe state taking tbe treatment.
At tbe residence of Englebert
Pollocl^at 8 o'clock Wednesday
evening bis daughter, Miss
Tberessa, and Frank Werba of
Temple were united in marriage
by Rev. Father Gleissner of
Bryan. After tbe ceremony tbe
bridal party was given a splen-
did wedding supper by tbe
bride's parents. Tbey left on
an early train next morning for
Temple which will be tbeir
future home. Both are well
knpwn and popular young people
here.
A petition has been circulated
among tbe citizens and numer-
oualy signed asking tbe express
and railroad authorities to move
the express office to some con-
venient place down town. Tbe
office gets a large amount of
lineas at this place and tbe
¡tizeos believe that tbe change
would be beneficial alike to tbe
company and to the public at
large.
Rev. W. S. Lackey, Rev. and
Mrs. A. L. Davis and J. W.
Burns attended tbe meetiog of
tbe Little River Baptist Associa-
tion in Cameron tbe latter part
of last week.

Constable Sledge Houston
brought Sam Tapline, colored,
up from Somerville, Monday
charged with tbe tbeft of a coat
and pants from Mims Bros, and
a pair of shoes from Lang. He
was committed to jail in default
of bail.
C. Knudson and family left
the first of tbe week for Keen
which place will be their future
home. Mr. Knudson has lived
in the Second Creek Community
for eleven years and leaves
with tbe esteem and best wishes
of all who know him.
The Qui Vive Club and several
invited guests were entertained
in a very charming manner last
Saturday afternoon by Mrs. T.
J. Oliver. Tbe usual games
were indulged in and tbey were
then served with delicious re-
freshments.
Tbe Woodmen of tbe world
will have a double unveiling
Sunday afternoon in Masonic
cemetery wbea monuments will
be unveiled at tbe graves of de-
ceased Sovereigns Ike Broaddus
and S. W. Hilliard.
