The w r in which the people of
this country are now engaged
must nece**arily increase the
demand for all food stuff* and no
other meat can be increased in
quantity no rapidly as jairk. The
Texas farmer can raise hog* as
cheaply a* any other, more
cheaply than the farmers of the
state* that excel in jtork produc-
tion. The great gulf harbor of
Galvettton, will probably be the
port from which murhof the meat
is taken, and if the war is a pro-
tracted one, Texas can dispone
a very large surplus through her
own port, and if peace should
result the island of Cuba would
at once require very large sup-
plies. There are three extensive
packeries in the state capable of
handling a much larger number
of animals than they have yet
been able to obtain and ready
always to pay for all classes of
meat animals all that the market
justifies. There can be no mis-
take in raising plenty of feed for
them. Remember those that
will pay the best profits are those
that are the best bred and that
have been the best fed from the
time of being littered.

Has worked and will
always work for the pros-

the farming element of -
Burleson county. There
are new ideas constantly
coming out and we pro-
pose to keep up with them
and keep our readers in-
formed of what is going
on. The farmer does not live in this coun-
ty who can read our paper a year and not in
some way get ten times the value out of the
reading that we ask as the subscription price.
The price of the paper is $1.50. No man
can get it for less. It is worth the money
to you anil you cannot get a paper that will
fill its place at any price. We are now print-
in a twelve-page paper and shall continue to
do so through this year unless we should
decide to enlarge to sixteen pages. It is
the advertising medium ami the news
medium of this section. It is beyond a
doubt the best countrv vveeklv in the state
of Texas.
Our Job Department is one that is not
often equalled and never excelled in towns
of this size. We are always prepared to do
any kind of work.
