Child Bit Five Times
By Copper Head Snake
There was a barbecue a t
Green's Branch on the Deanvillo
road Tuesday, given by the
members of the Catholic church,
the net proceeds to be used for
charity, in assisting those who
needed it. There was a good
crowd present and a neat little
sum realised.
Saturday afternoon about five
o'clock, Otto little eight-year-old
son of Christian Laugenegger,
of the Bii\ song neighborhood
was bitten five times on the
hand by a copper head snaae.
His father was getting ready to i
drive his team away from home
and the iittle fellow was hunting j
the whip for him, and picked up
the snake, thinking it was a
whip. The reptile bit him five
times before he could get away.
The little fellow was brought to
town and a physician attended
him and at last reports he was
getting along as well as could be
expected.

Monday morning Harry Hud-
son brought to town from his
garden at his home a bunch of
eight tomatoes on one bunch of
ponderosa variety weighing 0 lbs.
He gave the bunch to 'ye editor.
They are as pretty and taste as
good as any tomato we ever ate.
Mr. Hudson admits that they
were raised by his wift
however, some do not always
give the credit to our betterhalf,
as in this instance. This shows
that we have a climate and soil
that will raise the best of every-
thing in the eating line. Just
think of it, eight large nice to-
matoes, all on one stem and in
one bunch, weighing six pounds,
the smallest one being larger
than a man's fist.
On Tuesday, July 18th the
