getting into good condition since
the recent rains. Most of the
corn has been worked out for the
last time, and at the present
time promises a good yield. The
cotton crop is being worked out
as fast as workman can accomp-

many were the complements and
words of commendation express
ed on the manner in which the
children acted their part in the

to attempt to single out any one,
as the Star actor, for all did as
it seemed, as children could do,
and as many older ones said,
much better than they them
selves could have done.

Some criminal fired one pistol
shot from behind the bill board
in Skelly & Hughes cotton yard,
at the Harris buss last Sunday
morning as it was going to meet
the :{;4r>a. m. Santa Fepassenger
train. Virgus Broaddus was
driving the buss and there were
two lady passengers in it, Misses
Nora and Carrie Kleb, who went
to Brenham on the morning train.
It is not known what the gun
man's object was in doing this
as the parties who were in the
buss state that they know of
no grievance any one could have
against them, but the supposi-
tion is that possibly it was a
Mexicm who did it for sport,

about a bud back. Get rid of
that pain and lameness! Use
Doan's Kidney Pills. Many Cald-
