One of the most important
meetings of the Self Culture
C¡ub, occurred at tbe home of
Mrs. I. E. Brooks, on Thursday,
April 3rd.
The election of new officers
had been carefully considered
and they are as follows.
Mrs. J. R. Hartara ves, presi-
dent.
Mrs. Jack Itagsdale, vice presi
dent.
J. F. Cobb, Secretary.
Mrs. J. Earl Porter, Treasurer.
Miss Kathleen Cade, parlia
mentarían.
The retiring President, Mrs.
I. E. Brooks made soms very
touching remarks in regard to
the work that we bad accom
plisbed and of the loyalty that
had been shown her by the club.
The members declared their
uppreciation by rising and would
have it known while they labor
on for the best interest of tbe
club and all ita undertakings,
and while the roses bloom and
fade, tbe ordor of her association
in this capacity will forever trail
among us.
"The Short Story" program
waa lad by Mrs. Jessie Garrett.
Response to roll call being
bits of wisdom from ''Uncle
Remus."
Mrs. Porter being absent, tbe
"Elementa of the Short Story"
were aupplied by Miaa Beck.
The Round table reading of
,"An Intractable Woman," "The
Old Colonel" and an ''Interim
With Portraits" were very en«
joyablo. Tho program waa con
ciudad with a brief diacuaaion of
civic intareata.
It waa decided to place post-
era at tba numeroua dumping
grounda, asking that no traah
be thrown on the streets, since it
ia a violation of tbe city lawa*
We are truating that the beauti-
ful apnng array put forth by
nature will not be blemiahed by
human hands, but assisted by
removing the ugly spota from
around ua and this is what our
little energetic band ia trying to
do. Any aid in this undertak-
ing will be greatfully received.
