While Prof. W. W. Lackey,
superintendent of the schools at
Midland, was here spending the
holidays with his parents, be re-
ceived a letter from the president'
of the executive committee of
the wammtrr school of the state
university, tendering him the
position of Professor of English
grammar, Composition and His-
tory in the summer session ot
the university. He accepted the
offer. The aummer session will
begin June 15th and cloae Aug
1st. This is a worthy compli-
ment to Prof. Lackey who was
rfeared and eduoated here.

committee was appointed to draft
the following resolutions: First
to petition Sec. Meyer of the
Navy, Washington, D. C. to have

Slight Freight Wreck,
Saturday evening there was a
Hlijrbt freight wreck about seven
o clock near Davidson creek.
South bound through freight.
No. 35 was making about the
usual speed when a draw head
l>u led out. This disorganized
the care and a cattle oar was
thrown on top of a coal car just
ike it had been loaded on there.
Four or five of the cars were
banged up «orne, but none of
them were thrown down the em.
Hiikment. The cattle car had

off of it when it was thrown on
the coal car, tnd it had to be
torn to pieces and thrown down
the embankment. The track
wan not damaged and the wreck,
age we* cleared before another
train came along, and traffic
