the latter will never come down
fast enough to hurt anybody.
A St. Louis woman is hunting
her husband so she can sue for
divorce. He would probably
come forward at once if he knew
what she wants with him.

It is now announced that the
President will have to cut his va-
cation short on account of suffer-
ing from over-rest.
The strangest complaint in the
divorce courts noted for some
time is that of a woman who
wants to leave her husband be-
cause he won't dye his red hair
to match the furniture. The
alimony should be large and
gratefully paid by the husband
of such a wife. Some men have
no artistic tendencies.
If trees really have memories
as that German scientist says,
we may yet be able to ascertain
from some member of the apple-
tree family exactly who was to
blame for that little trouble in
the Garden of Eden.

Senator Beveridge in one oí th<

Letter to A. V. McCarty.
Aspermont, Texas.
Dear sir: Say milk is worth 8c
a quart.
If 1-3 water and sold at 8c the
milk in it fetches 12c a quart.
If 1-2 water, 19c.
If 2-3 water, 24c.
If 3-4 water, 32c.
Thats rather too stiff for milk;
but watered paint is sold in all
those proportions.
Pure paint (Devoe) is sold!
for $1.75 a gallon.
'*PaintM at that price and 1-3
white-wash fetches $2.62 a gallon j
for the paint part of it. ^
"Paint 1-2 white-wash fetches
$3.50 a gallon for the paint in it.
"Paint" 3-4 whitewash fetches
*>7.00 a gallon for the actual paint
it contains.
And people are paying all these
prices for paint, when they buy i
adulterated paints. There are j
200 such: only 8 pure paints; only
one Devoe.
Yours truly,
42 F. W. Devof, & Co.

Parents, I ajn talking to you. 1
and if you live in West Texas you
will appreciate what I say.
It is your dearest hope thai
your boy or your girl will succeed
in life, even better than you have.
You may not know it but times
have changed since you were
young. The Iron Horse and the
Telephone, the large department
store and other means of central-
ized effort, are here to stay.
Time once was when you could
apprentice your boy or girl to
some business man and he would
teach them the ways of Business,
but the modern business man has
no time to teach, and if your John
or your Sallie ever gets a place in
a modern business establishment
it will be through their qualifica-
tions and that alone. Today v c ;
