Commissioners Listen To
EMS Director, Sheriff
The Mills County Commissioners
held their regular semi-monthly
meeting Tuesday, Nov. 12.
Goldthwaite EMS Supervisor
Mike Gilbert was listed on the
agenda for a hearing. He asked for
the establishment of improvement
in communications with the law
enforcement departments, stating
that the present methods are not
in accordance with guidelines set
by the state.
f “Police are taking it into their
own hands,” he said, “whether or ■
not an ambulance should .be
called.” He cited two cases in
which the law officer enroute to
the scene radioed in, “I’ll let you
know if we need an ambulance
when we get there.”
Gilbert explained that in ac-
cordance with the recent Senate
Bill 385, the laws are clear on
dispatching an ambulance to all
emergency situations directly in-
volving persons. .
Sheriff Mack Casbeer was
now proposed to serve, Hamilton,
Mills, Comanche, Lampasas, Cor-
yell, and Bosque counties. It would
minimize the cost for each county.
Presently juveniles can be held
overnight. According to Sheriff
Casbeer,. most cases result in
turning over the offending juvenile
to the custody of their parents.
Runaways require being kept in
custody for two weeks during
investigation of their cases.

arrested. The cost of a facility
, would amount to some $300,000 for
construction plus the costs of 24
hour personnel.

organization of a regional facility,

Water Coming Into Lake
City Manager Dale Allen samples the raw Colorado
River water coming into the new storage reservoir. The
city began pumping Saturday night and over 500 gallons
per minute are coming into the new lake. Allen says it
will be sometime in early February before the lake is full
of water, even at a rate of over 720,000 gallons per day.
This is the best time of the year to pump from the river, as
the water is best now. Allen says the gate to the new lake
is open during the day, from 8:30 to 4:30 p.m., and
citizens are welcome to view the new water storage
facility. The site will hopefully provide an abundant
amount of water for the city for many years to come,
