give an entertainment of a literary
order at the Assembly Hall tomor-
row night it will be a great treat

■ Our friend W. W. Scott who lives
up stairs over Louis Heilbron's jew-
elry store Texas side was present-
ed with twins on Friday night by
his good lady. He is taking it all
right and is not inclined to be proud
about it as some people would.
The weather is playing hide and
seek with the weather clerk. He
has hardly time to tell us that we
must expect warm weather or cold
before the two reverses are upon
us. It is cold today but it wont do
to gamble on that it will be cold to-
morrow.
A little miss of 14 years meeting
the reporter yesterday asked him
if he should see a house on fire
what authors of note would it re-
mind him of. The reporter could
think of only one and that one was
Burns and the miss furnished the
other two by saying Dickens Howe
it Burns.
The city editor had the pleasure
of meeting with an old acquaintance
today in the person of Geo. L.
Owen. George at one time was in
the employ ot the Cotton Belt as
conductor but he is now engaged
with the Travellers Accident Com-
pany and is here from Pine Bluff to
write up the Cotton Belt boys
against accidents.
