Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Womble
had the pleasure of having their
children and grandchildren at
their home last weekend. They
included Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Wom-
ble, Jr. and sons, Chuck and
John of Midland, and Mr. and
Mrs. Wayne Johnson, Hurst.
Mrs. T. A. Stroup is a patient
in Wysong Hospital in McKin-
ney, after surgery.
Don Samples and children of
Greenville spent Friday night
with his mother, Mrs. Audra
Samples.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Sharp of Dal-
las visited friends 'here Satur-
day and attended to some busi-
ness.
Among those visiting Mr. and
Mrs. Paul H. Stroup, who have
recently moved here, were Mr.
and Mrs. H. S. Malone of Com-
merce, Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Ma-
lone, Greenville, Mr and Mrs.
Tommy Orr of Camden, Ark.,
Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Stroup of
Richardson, Mr. and Mrs. Gor-
don Tilley of McKinney, Rev. and
Mrs. George Wilcoxson of Farm-
ersville, Mrs. Viola Jones of Ft.
Worth, Mr. and Mrs. Sherwood
Reynolds, Richardson, Mr. and
Mrs. Edgard Clements, Irving,
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stroup, Farm-
ersville, Mrs. James McQuerry of
Farmersville, Mrs. Jewel Shields
of McKinney, and a number of
local relatives and friends.
Mrs. Susie Hughes and Mrs.
Fay McTee visited her mother,
who is in a rest home in White-
wright.
The annual Chicken Roast was
well attended last Saturday
night at the Methodist Church.
$585.00 was realized from the
supper. Thanks to everyone who
had a part in the sucess of this
affair.
Funeral services for Charlie Al-
der were held Tuesday at the
Verona Baptist Church. His home
was in Dallas and he had been ill
for several months. He was a
former resident of this commun-
ity and is survived by his wife,
the former Bessie Haynes, one
son and one daughter, all of Dal-
las. two brothers, N. C. Alder of
Veorna and Herbert Alder of Ft.
Worth, sisters Emma McTee and
Grace Reynolds of McKinney,
Jewel Woods of Wichita Falls,
and Erma Lou Langston of Grand
Prairie. Interment was in Verona
Cemetery under the direction of
Anderson-Clayton Funeral Home
in Dallas.
TO BE MARRIED ... Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Grigsby Jr. of 2608
Larry Drive, Garland, announce the engagement and approach-
ing marriage of their daughter, Linda Sue to James Patrick
Lewis He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. (Dub) Lewis Jr., 109
Baker Street, McKinney. The marriage will take place at the
Saturn Road Church of Christ in Garland on Jan. 25, 1969. A
small wedding is planned. Miss Grigsby is majoring in Special
Education at East Texas State University and Mr. Lewis is an
Industrial Education major at ETSU. The couple will receive
Bachelor Degrees in August, 1969. They will reside in Commerce.

lene and Mrs. Susie Spicer visit-
ed Mr. and Mrs. Douglas, recent-
ly.
Mrs. Ruby Furr of McKinney
visited Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Recer,
Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ingram of Jus-
tin visited Mr. and Mrs. Ray-
mond Dement, recently.
Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Abbott
attended the funeral of Mrs. Ab-
bott’s uncle, in Abilene.
Myrtle H. Marlswell of Oak-
land, Calif., James Jones, Mrs.
Wanda Alexander and family of
Dallas, all visited Mr. and Mrs.
Bon Davis on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Rowlen
entertained with a Hallowe’en
party Saturday night.

of Prosper visited Mrs. Pearl
Douglas, Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Abbott
and daughter attended a reunion
of Mrs. Thomas Johnson’s family
at Ft. Bellnap, near New Castle,
recently.

Waco visited Mrs. Bertha Wilson,
Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Woody Rains and
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Taylor of Mc-
Kinney visited Mr. and Mrs. John
Godwin, Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Kerbow
visited Mr. and Mrs. Jay Wood-

Mr. Johnny Godwin celebrat-
ed his birthday Friday, as did
Mrs. Jessie Evans.

visited Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Cave,

Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Cave have
returned from a visit with Mr.
and Mrs. Gerald Wardlow in
Thousand Oaks, Calif.

family of Mr. Sam Whitswell
who passed away, Saturday.

visited Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Cave,
Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Bishop Hudgins

of Mr. and Mrs. Otis Johnson.

Randles of Henderson and Mrs.

Dallas.
Rev. Benard Holmes, wife and
two children of Greenville at-
tended services at the First Bap-
tist Church Sunday. He directed
the music and Mrs. Holmes sang
a solo.
Mrs. Mertie Warren and Tom-
my Boorman are on the sick list.
Martha Cantrell has returned
from attending the LVN Assoc-
iation of Texas Nineteenth an-
nual convention at the Robert
Driscoll Hotel, Corpus Christi, as
a delegate from the McKinney
Division 43.
Spec. 4 Billy G. Lawson
Completes Basic
Spec. 4 Billy G. Lawson enter-
ed the Army in November of
1967. He completed basic train-
ing at Ft. Polk, La., and entered
Engineering School at Ft. Leon-
ard Wood, Mo., and arrived at
Sattihip, Thailand on April 17,
1968.
Spec. 4 Lawson is on a Con-
struction tour of duty in Thai-
land, and received his promotion
October 25. He is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Reno Lawson of 1307
N. Coleman, McKinney. Grand-
parents are Mr. and Mrs. G. F.
Miller of Celina and the late Mr.
and Mrs. Elmer Lawson of A1-
toga.

Simms
Funeral services were held at
2 p. m. Saturday at Elmont Bap-
tist Church for Billy Sims, 62,
who died in a Sherman hospital.
Rev. Ralph White and Grady
Lankford officiated. Interment
was in Van Alstyne Cemetery,
Flesher Funeral Home directing.
He was born Aug. 31, 1906, and
was married to Lucy Roland who
preceded him in death in 1959.
Surviving are two sons, Billy
Ray Sims and Billy Don Sims of
Anna; three daughters, Billie
Dean Lewallen, Garland; Billie
Ruth Williams of McKinney and
Billie Louise Khreme of Califor-
nia; five brothers, Raymond Sims
of Anna; Curtis Sims of Dallas;
Frank Sims of Van Alstyne; Stan-
ley Sims of Denton; Russell Sims
of Plainview and nine grand-
children.
James Stout
Passes Away
In San Antonio
Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Stout were
called to San Antonio by the
death of their son, James M.
Stout, 44, who died at his home
there. He had been ill for some-
time.
i He was born in Plano May 24,
| 1924; attended McKinney schools
and served 21 years in the U. S.
Army, retiring as a staff ser-
geant.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs.
Elizabeth Stout, four children,
Michael, Dennis, Teresa and
Cathy Stout.
