which north of the Mount McGregor
depot the funeral train of (he New York
Central rallwuy was walling. While
thousands of persons were being held
back by tho military the mountain train
drew alongsldo lite oilier train and
stopped. There wero nine cars In tho
New York Central train. Next In tho
engine enmo tho funeral enr "Wood-
lawn." The remains were taken In silence by
the Uuard of Honor to lite car "Wood-
lawn" which was dri.ped in black and
hung with lings and all parties were
transferred to their respective cars
which wero all draped In plain black.
The llrooklyn Gunrdof Honor and six
men of the l.oynl I.eglon and a guard of
regulars entered the death oar also two
men of Whetller I'ost Orund Army of
the lleppblio. Soon alter 2 o'clock tho
superintendent gave Conductor Thorn-
ton the signal to start and tlie Imprts-
slve and heavy train moved through tho
throngs and away front Saratoga.
