An Incident In Real Life.
To the noble husband or to tho kind
and loving wife It Indeed seems strange
that any man and wife can possibly have
such domestic differences as to volun-
tarily Invoke the aid of council to ob-
tain papers of perpetual separation and
yet we tlnd these much to bo deplored
occurrences are continually taking
place in all parts and sections of our
land. The sad fact Is well authenti-
cated that each advancing year records
an Increase In the number or applica-
tion for papers granting divorce. Some-
times the appeal cornea from the bus-
nanu and Koiueiuncs iromtne wue. mi
snrla of allegations are made from tho
most trivial neglect tothe most outrage-
ous nnd cruel treatment. Very often
both are at fault anil generally In such
cases It Is n mercy to both to grant pa-
pers of separation especially where
they both refuse to remain together and
treat each other with proper considera-
tion and 1 would further say that very
often It Is a great blessing to the sur-
rounding neighbors. In very many
cases where divorces are applied
for It Is entirely the fault of
one party. To discuss the many reasons
(real or Imaginary) that cause people to
entirely set aside and forget the sacred
marriage vows would of themselves till
a volume. From the experience and
alter-llfe of many friends and acquain-
tances I venture to say that as a rule di-
vorced people are afterward unfortunate
and If tlio reader will remember all such
cases that have come under his or her
notice I think they will concur with me
In this conclusion. We often hear the
remark made in speaking or a recent
marrlane. that It was a love match and
we Instinctively honor the young couple
who Join hands and hearts with no other
motive save love nnd mutual attraction.
How dlllerent where one or both swear
to be true to each other amid nil earthly
trials well knowing as they answer the
man oi uou tuose eoiemn questions
that they tmvo spoken falsely. Yea In
their own hearts (perhaps cleverly
concealed) they know that they
uo not love cacn otner as snouid
husband and wife nnd In manv
cases each loves another and yet
irom mercenary mouves iney sell
themselves for position or pecuniary ad
vantage or both. A good and dutiful
wue irequenuy Becomes uissausiieu and
unhappy because she feels that her hus
band neglects the home. If a man were
to occupy a woman's position for n short
period lie would realize how bapnv and
contented a true woman Is when her
husband brings home some little present
and savs. "My dear. I have a little eift
for you." We know of nothing that
pleases meiauies oetter inan some lasiy
little Item In the Jewelry line and ai
the times at present are very hard we
would advise our friends and the public
