WOMAN'S WORK.
Successful Entertainment hy the Ladies Exposi-
tion Society Last Night.
The spacious building recently erected
on Commerce street near the bridge
and known aa the Dennett building waa
taken poasesslon or the Ladles Imposi-
tion society last night for the purpose of
giving nn entertainment to aid their
work financially. A brilliant electric
light shed Its glare through the house
and dlaclosed a lively picture or bustling
activity and pleasure. A large number
or visitors filled the building nnd the
ladles were kept busy providing refresh-
ments of Ice cream cake eto. The
smooth floor and the Inviting strains of
the Klghlh cavalry band soon called the
dancers out and the evening was passed
most pleasantly by all. The ladles are
well satisfied with tho result of this
their llrst entertainment for thla pur-
pose and will repeat the programme at
an early day. To-day they will servo
cakes and Ice cream at the sceno or last
night's entertainment and their ellbrts
should meet with liberal patronage.
