COMPENSATION OF.
S. B. No. 332.] CHAPTER 102.
An Act to amend Article 3884 Revised Civil Statutes of 1925 relating to
compensation of deputies and assistants of certain District and county
officers; and declaring an emergency.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Texas:
SECTION 1. That Article 3884 of the Revised Civil Statutes
of Texas of 1925 be and the same is hereby amended so as to
hereafter read as follows:
Article 3884. The maximum annual compensation allowed
each Deputy or assistant to any officer named in Art. 3883A of
the Revised Statutes of 1925 shall be as follows:
i. In Counties having a population less than thirty-seven
thousand five hundred and not containing a city of over twentyfive
thousand:
First Assistant or Chief Deputy ---
$1800.00
Other Assistants or Deputies --
1500.00
2. In Counties having a population of over thirty-seven thousand
five hundred to one hundred thousand and containing no.
city with a population of twenty-five thousand inhabitants:
First Assistant or Chief Deputy ---$2100.00
Heads of Departments---
1800.00
Other Assistants or Deputies --
1500.00
3. In Counties containing a population of over thirty-seven
thousand five hundred to one hundred thousand and containing
a city of over twenty-five thousand inhabitants or counties containing
a population of more than one hundred thousand:
First Assistant or Chief Deputy ---$2700.00
Heads of Departments

SEC. 2. All laws and parts of laws in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed.
SEC. 3. The fact that the chief deputies and heads of departments
in the large Counties of this State are greatly underpaid,
creates an emergency and an imperative necessity demanding
that the constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three
separate days be suspended and that this act take effect and be
in force from and after its passage and it is so enacted.
[NOTE.-The above act, though carrying the emergency clause,.
did not pass in the Senate by a roll call vote.]
Approved March 16, 1927.
Effective ninety (90) days after adjournment.
