thence continuing east 810 varas across said Prewitt survey to
the S. W. corner of section 102 on the east boundary line of
said Prewitt survey; thence east with the south boundary line
of section 102 to the S. E. corner of same and the S. W. corner
of section 103; thence east to the S. E. corner of section 103
and the S. W. corner of section 104; thence east to the S. E.
corner of section 104 and the N. E. corner of section 37 on the
Jasper and Newton County line; thence north with the said
Jasper and Newton County line to the N. E. corner of section
79 to the place of beginning. Containing 35446 acres of land
-more or less.
SEC. 2. The management and control of the public free
schools of the Buna Independent School District as created by
this Act, is hereby vested in a board of seven (7) trustees to
bp elected in accordance with the General Laws of the State of
Texas relating to the election of trustees for independent school
districts; provided, however, that the present board of trustees
of the Buna Independent School District shall serve for the
respective terms for which they have been elected.
SEC. 3. The Buna Independent School District as created by
this Act shall have and exercise and is hereby vested with all
the rights, powers, privileges and duties of a town or village
incorporated under the General Laws of the State of Texas, for
free school purposes only, and the board of trustees of said Buna
Independent School District shall have and exercise and are
hereby vested and charged with all the rights, powers, privileges
and duties conferred and imposed by the General Laws of
this State upon trustees of independent school districts incorporated
under the General Laws of Texas, for free school purposes
only.
SEC. 4. All maintenance taxes heretofore voted or bonds
heretofore issued by any former school district included within
the bounds of the Buna Independent School District as herein
created shall remain in full force and effect insofar as the creation
of this district might in any manner affect the same, and
the bonds issued by the Buna Independent School District of
date December 1, 1925, in the amount of $40,000.00, bearing
five per cent interest and issued pursuant to an election held on
the 28th day of November, 1925, are hereby validated in all
things and declared to be the valid obligation of the Buna Independent
School District as herein created.
SEC. 5 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with any of the
provisions of this Act are hereby repealed and Chapter 61. Local
and Special Laws, passed by the Thirty-seventh Legislature at
its Regular Session, and Chapter 83, Local and Special Laws
passed by the Thirty-eighth Legislature at its Regular Session,
are hereby particularly repealed.
SEC. 6 The condition of the public free schools within the
territory comprising said independent school district and the
fact that the people residing therein are without sufficient funds
to maintain the schools of the district creates an emergency and
