Yeah.
And at times, he didn't have a job, but his experience was as ... as a chemist
working for a paint company.
Uh hum.
Mixing paints and other materials, and he chose to call ... call himself a chemist
anyway when the census takers came by (laughter).
(Laughter). So, let's see, you went to high school in the area?
Went to high school in Elizabeth, and high school was an all-boys high school,
Thomas Jefferson.
(Chuckles).
It doesn't exist today; they have another high school in its place.
So, do you remember December the 7th, 1941? I think something happened that
day.
Yes, I do remember December 7th. Of course, I didn't realize the ... the
significance as ... as much either. There was a lot to learn.
So, you were only ...
Particularly where ... where was Pearl Harbor, and ...
Right.
And these places that the Japanese also attacked, and ... and Alaska and other
places. So ...
So, things changed after December the 7th, so ... but you were still in high
school, right?
Dec ... December 7th 1941 I was uh, in ... in high school.
Yeah.

Right.
So, when you got to be seventeen, you decided you wanted to go into the war, is
that right?
Correct, and of course, we'd been reading and hearing about war for several ...
quite a few years actually 'cause there was war going on the Orient between the
Chinese and the Japanese and over in Europe as well. And I ... it ... I'm sure it
