MONDAY JUNE 4 1888.
High - Pressure
Living characterizes these modern days.
The result is a fearful increase of Brain
and Heart Diseases — General De-
bility Insomnia Paralysis and In-
sanity. Chloral and Morphia augment
the evil. The medicine best adapted
to do permanent good is Ayer’s Sar-
saparilla. It purifies enriches and
vitalizes the blood and thus strengthens
every function and faculty of the body.
“ I have used Ayer’s Sarsaparilla in
my’ family for years. I have found it
invaluable as
A Cure
for Nervous Debility caused by an in-
active liver and a low state of the blood.”
— Henry Bacon Xenia Ohio.
“For some time I have been troubled
with heart disease. I never found any-
thing to help me until I began using
Ayer’s Sarsaparilla. I have only used
this medicine six months but it has re-
lieved me from my trouble and enabled
me to resume work.” —J. P. Carzanett
Perry 111.
“I have been a practicing physician
for over half a century and during that
time I have never found so powerful
and reliable an alterative and blood-
purifier as Ayer’s Sarsaparilla.” — Dr.
M. Maxstart Louisville Ky.
Ayer’s Sarsaparilla
PREPARED BY
Dr. J. C. Ayer & Co. Lowell Mass.
Price $1 ; eix bottles $5. Worth $5 a bottle.
The Light has no preference special-
ly for presidential canditates. It favors
now as ever the nomination of the man
who will most completely reconcile all
factions of the republican party and re-
store that harmony to its councils which
made it invincible daring the first de-
cade succeeding the war. Desiring
this some new man seems most fitted to
accomplish this result and for this rea-
son the Light favors the nomination of
Gresham considering him the strongest
man that could be nominated under ex-
isting circumstances. Since the writing
of the Florence letter by Mr. Blaine this
journal interpreting that letter in the
light of common honesty has regarded
Mr. Blaine as actually out of the presi-
dential race and that opinion never di-
verged from has been abundantly con-
firmed by later declarations. Had Mr.
Blaine been a candidate before the party
for the nomination the Light would
have most unqualifiedly favored his
nomination As he is not it turns to
the field of possible candidates and finds
in Walter Gresham a man every way
worthy and well qualified and one upon
whose shoulders the mantle of govern-
ment would safely rest. Should the
honor fall to Sherman or Allison or
Depew or Hawley or Harrison or some
dark horse it is not within the bounds
of party probability that a man could be
selected who would not be an improve-
ment upon the one candidate whom the
democracy can put forward with the
only possible show of success. The re-
publican party despite the loss of so
many able men of late has no lack of
presidential timber.
