Recorder Chrysler.
Wm. Chrysler is a man among men.
The peer of any man in San Antonio tn
all that makes real manhood. No bright*
er mind among the people. He was well
off; be is poor now. He d. pends upon
his workingmen friends to support him;
he depends on tho.e who are pledged to
aid all who help themselves to elect bim;
he depends on all who would see the re-
cordership in the hands of honest worth
and a manhood struggle few ever make
to help him to tbe office be cannot spend
money to electioneer for. If manhood is
to be recognized; worth advanced: self-
helping honored and assisted; tbe re-
corder’s chair properly tilled; the meed
of honest worth paid the friend of tbe
workingmen and one of tbe must
capable workingmen of this oily recog-
nized—then vole for Wm. Chrysler as
recorder of the city.

ing for the use of a large number of itin-

Hon. Bryan Callaghan poses as the
friend of tbe workingmen of San Antonio.
Was it an act of friendship to veto tbe
order of the city council giving to poor
men who owned and drove their own
carts the preference over contractors
and capitalists who owned many carts
ami hired them out to the city ?
The workingmen of San Antonio did
not deem that veto a irlendly act.
They did not think then that Bryan
Callaghan was their friend and they do
not think so now.
Their curses loud and deep over that
vetoand Inn “merable unfriendly acts to
the Independent workingmen of this
city will be remembeted by them at the
polls next Monday.

ling bv new attractions and old favor-
ites. Ou Friday night a complimentary
benefit will be given to Charles M.
Michael one of the proprietors and he
should have a crowded bouse as be is
worthy of public support.
The Mayoralty.
Elect Edwin H. Terrell mayor of San
Antonio and our city charter will be
amended and come in force.
Under Its provisions a wise expendit-
ure of public money will be made and
our city will take a decided step for-
ward
These improvements will enable many
idle laborers in this city to earn-wages
and support their families In comfort
These improvements will take little
money out of the city. They will re-
turn to the workingmen. tbe merchants
the butchers the Bakers arteaans of all
classes and all trading and industrial or-
ders the money raised by taxation mak-
ing all richer and none poorer.
Tnese improvements will enlarge the
volume of trade and enrich the mer-
chant; they will increase the value of
real estate and enrich tbe large prop-
erty holder and tbe poorer man who
only owns his homestead as well.
These improvements will also make us
more healthy as well as wealth. They
will Improve us at home and increase
our reputation abrord.
They will be to us a gain and not an
evil This good will come to this city by
the election of Edwin H. Terrell.
—Hou. Joseph R. Harris of Galla-
gher’s ranch has received an interesting
letter from a friend in New York on tbe
refrigerator question which throws
much light upon tbe details of such
works the writer having had large ex-
perience with such enterprises. Mr.
Harris thinks a refrigerator here upon
any reasonable basis would be of great
benefit to stock interests but that. In
the hands of our stock people and busi-
ne-s men it would do much more good
than if controlled by a foreign corpora-
tion.
The Mayoralty.
The straight out republicans in San
Antonio never claimed that municipal
elections should be run by party ma-
chinery. Tbe attempt to prejudice them
against Mr. Terrell’s candidacy on that
ground is a miserable failure.
They vote Terrell because he repre-
sents principle business trade public
Improvements sanitation public decen-
cy. tbe rights of all and public works
giving employment to hundreds of idle
men.
The straight out republicans the
straight out democrats tbe straight out
citizens of all classes will vote for Ter-
rell because in every way—as man or
citizen or head of the administration ot
city affairs or director of city business
or inspirer of public confidence—be is in
every way superior to tbe man who is
pitted against him.
This is purely a question ot good city
government and a reputable administra-
tion and party politics is out in tbe
cold.
—The fortune teller and clairvoyant

ment given her. She says she has done

what advertising in the Light will do.
— The benches recently purchased
from tbe Lutheran church by tbe oi y
have been placed in the parks a good-
ly number being placed in Travis park
Now the loafer and tramp can snore

ing rheumatism lying on tbe bare
ground.
The Mayoralty.
Bryan Cdlaghan cla ms a re-election
to the mayor's office of this city upon
the grounds of hie having accomplished
so much for the city.
Will Bryan Callaghan or his advisers
inform the voters of San Antonio how It
happens that be vetoed tbe appropria-
tions for city improvements if he was so
very anxious therefor?
Will Bryan Callaghan or bls advisers
explain bow it was that whilst so very
anxious for city Improvements he open-
ly assailed in tbe council chamber the
men who moat persistently advocated
such Improvements?
How was It that bls anger burned so
continually against Mackey and French
and Ixx kwood and Hambleton and Smye
and all woo despite bls temper and bls
gavel demanded that the city’s Interests
should not be neglected ?
There Is but one reason-Hon. Bryan
Callaghan has not city Improvements at
heart. Tbe people demand a ohanga.

Mr. Terrell
Has always opposed fusion movements
and publicly said there could be no
purity in politics until tbe party lines
were drawn consequently he is now
running under false eretenceH. D-C-lt
The Other Side
All the articles that have appeared in
the papers boosting Terrell for mayor
have been furnished by the friends of
Terrell and paid for aa advertisements.
The articles in favor of Callaghan ap-
pear in the same way—as paid for ad-
vertisements.
What Is the qualification of K. H. Ter-
rell for mayor?
It is not brain power—it is not expe-
rience in munio’pal affairs—it is not so-
ciability—it is not sympathy with our
people. Then what Is it? It is his money
bags and his ability to pay newspapers
for advertisements ouffing him and to
buy agitators and voters. If he is elect-
ed mayor it will be solely through his
money and Its corrupt use. The people
of San Antonio are not yet ready to sell
out to a bloated capitalist. Dem-C-lt
