1 WHEREAS, Extremely active with the Rural Sociological
2 Society (RSS) and the Southern Rural Sociological Association
3 (SRSA), he received the Distinguished Rural Sociologist Award from
4 the RSS and the Teaching Excellence Award from the SRSA; and
5 WHEREAS, James Copp was a man of dedication, integrity, and
6 wisdom, and while he will be greatly missed, his spirit lives on in
7 the hearts and minds of the many people whose lives he touched; now,
8 therefore, be it
9 RESOLVED, That the 78th Legislature of the State of Texas
10 hereby extend sincere sympathy to the family of James H. Copp: to
11 his wife, Veronica; to his daughters, Christine Avery and her
12 partner, Terry Johnson, Karen and her partner, Steve Hendrix, Sarah
13 and her husband, Humberto La Roche, and Martha and her husband, Jeff
14 Supplee; to his son, John Copp and his wife, Peggy; to his seven
15 grandchildren; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be
16 it further
17 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
18 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
19 Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
20 James H. Copp.
