The changes in law made by this Act to Section 13 248, Texas Probate Code, apply only to the estate of a decedent who 14 dies on or after the effective date of this Act. The estate of a 15 decedent who dies before the effective date of this Act is governed 16 by the law in effect on the date of the decedent's death, and the 17 former law is continued in effect for that purpose. 18 SECTION 4. (a) The changes in law made by this Act to 19 Section 727, Texas Probate Code, apply only to a guardianship 20 proceeding commenced on or after the effective date of this Act. 21 (b) A guardianship proceeding commenced before the 22 effective date of this Act is governed by the law applicable to the 23 proceeding immediately before the effective date of this Act, and 24 that law is continued in effect for that purpose. 25 SECTION 5. This Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
