HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
1 WHEREAS, The citizens of Sulphur Springs suffered an
2 immeasurable loss with the deaths of two beloved residents of the
3 community, Trooper Stanley Wayne Avery and his son, Jacob Wayne
4 "Jake" Avery, on June 13, 2004; and
5 WHEREAS, A native of Paris, Stanley Avery was born on August
6 30, 1966, to Clifton and Doris Armstrong Avery; he married Tenny
7 Gwen Turner on March 14, 1992, and became the proud father of three
8 children, Jake, Jaleigh, and Allie; he served as a Texas state
9 trooper in the license and weight department and was a member of the
10 Texas State Troopers Association and Central Baptist Church; for
11 six years, he also coached his son's Dixie Little League baseball
12 team; and
13 WHEREAS, Born on May 14, 1993, Jake Avery was a five-year
14 baseball All-Star member and played on the state championship team
15 in 2001; he attended Douglas Intermediate School, and he received a
16 perfect attendance certificate from first through fifth grades and
17 placed fourth in the fifth-grade spelling bee; as a member of
18 Central Baptist Church, he completed three Awana programs; and
19 WHEREAS, The family and friends of Stanley and Jake Avery may
20 take comfort in memories of many joyful moments spent together; a
21 cherished father and son of Sulphur Springs, they are dearly missed
22 by all those who were privileged to know and love them; now,
23 therefore, be it
