September yard
of the month
A“hidden gem” -the home of Wesley
and Linda Janacek, 508 Black St. - was
chosen by the Schulenburg Garden
Club for September’s yard ofthe month.
The front of the house is a well-
maintained, calm, cool oasis of greens
with highlights of blue plumbago. The
side ofthe house is a tropical forest with
a winding path leading to the back yard.
Walking down this path leads to a lovely
surprise. The firstthing you see is a deck
dotted with colorful potted plants, then
a dance floor underneath shade trees.
These open up to a spacious area sur-
rounded by lush and beautiful plants
including Savannah holly, Buford holly,
dwarf yaupon holly, plumbago, shrimp
plant, variegated ginger, variegated
