A total of $3,769.55 was given
this year to help the personnel
further the education of students.
This brings the total to $ 18,921.27
given by Shorthorns Forever As-
sociation from 2015-2020. Grant
recipients include:
•Cindy Kalina, school nurse,
is receiving a grant to purchase
a “Stop the Bleed” instructor
training kit. This will enable all
staff and students in grades 7-12
to be trained in traumatic injury
response. This is part of Texas
HB 496.
•Taylor Jensen, junior high read-
ing teacher, is receiving a grant
to purchase books for a summer
reading program. Two novel stud-
ies will take place this summer.
Students will read or listen to the
book and then meet to discuss dif-
ferent aspects of the book.
•Kim Wellborn, junior high
math/STEM teacher, is receiving
a grant to purchase Snap Circuits
lights. This will help provide
information about circuits to the
STEM classes.
