CREATING THE ASHERTON INDEPENDENT SCHOOL
DISTRICT IN DIMMIT COUNTY.
H. B. No. 399.] CHAPTER 137.
An Act creating the Asherton Independent School District in Dimmit
County, Texas; defining its boundaries; providing for a board of
trustees in said district; conferring upon said district and its board
of trustees all the rights, powers, privileges and duties and liabilities
now conferred and imposed by the General Laws of Texas upon independent
school districts and the board of trustees thereof; declaring
that all taxes or bonds heretofore authorized by Ashexton Common
School District No. 2 of Dimmit County, Texas shall remain in full
force and effect and declaring an emergency.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Texas:
SECTION 1. That the Asherton Independent School District is
hereby created and established in Dimmit County, Texas, containing
within its limits the following described territory, to-wit:
Beginning at a point on the Nueces River where the southeastern
line of Blas Reyes grant intersects said river; thence
south 30' and 30" west 10,000 varas along the southeasterly line
of the Blas Reyes grant fence and the northwesterly line of the
Jesus Cardonas grant to a point the most southerly corner of the
Blas Reyes grant and the most westerly corner of the Jesus Cardonas
grant; thence N. 70' W. 119 varas with the northeasterly
line of the A. M. Fore survey to the most northeasterly corner of
said A. M. Fore survey; thence south 1636 varas along the
easterly line of the A. M. Fore. survey to its most southerly corner;
thence south 35' east 1597 vrs. along the northeasterly line
of survey No. 55, T. thence south 55 west 1700 varas
along the division line between surveys 55 and 70, 56 and 69, 57
and 68, 58 and 67, 59 and 66, 60 and 65, 61 and 65, 62 and 63,
T. thence S. 35 E. along the said northeasterly line of said
Survey No. 6, 132 vrs. to its most easterly corner; thence S. 55'
west along the southeasterly lines of said Survey No. 6, and
John Ely Survey No. 7, 2026 vrs. to most southeasterly corner
of said Survey No. 7; thence west 5752 vrs. along the division
line between said John Ely Survey No. 7 and A. Oppenheimer
Sur. No. 669, Wm. Cassin Sur. No. 54 and R. C. Andrew Sur.
No. 52, G. W. T.
thence N. 300 vrs. along the westerly line of said Wm. Cassin
Sur. No. 54, to the southeasterly corner of the Carl Miller Sur.
No. 79; thence S. 70' W. 1618 vrs. along the divisions line between
said Carl Miller Sur. No. 79 and the G. W. T.
