Funeral for Mary Lawana
HasseH, 70, of Rusk was at
10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov, 5,
in Eastsicle Baptist Church in
Rusk with the Rev. Mike Brad-
ford officiating. Burial was in
Holcomb Cemetery.
Mrs. Hassell died Nov. 3, in
a Nacogdoches Hospital. She
was born March 3, 1938, in
Atlanta, Tex. to the late Clif-
ford Lee and Willie Lee Smith
Wilbanks. She was a resident of
Ruskfor 13 years and a member
of Eastside Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hassellwas also a member
of Texas Laureate Gamma Chi
of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and
a housewife.
Preceding her in death were
two brothers, Scotty Wilbanks
andC.W. Wilbanks; andasister,
Evelyn Lawrence.
She is survived by her hus-
band of 45 years, HiltonHassell
of Rusk: son and daughter-in-
law, Doug and Carri Hassell
of Rusk; daughter and son-in-
law, Stacey and Jason Bartley
of Rusk; nine grandchildren.

Mr. Ramos died Nov. 4.
He was born Sept. 4, 1977,
in Rancho Pozo Hondo, San
Luis de la Paz, GTO, Mexico
to Delfino Ramos and Belen
Otero Ramos.
He was a member of Our Lady
of Sorrows Catholic Church and
a construction worker.
Survivors include his wife,
Ofelia Ramos of Jacksonville;

Mrs. Chandler died Nov. 9.
She? was born June 28, 1913,
in Turney to John Wiley and
Emma Alice Blackwell Chan-
dler. Mrs. Chandler was the
last surviving child out of 13
children.
She was a member of Corinth
Baptist Church and was for-
merly a seamstress at Marja's
Brassiere Co. in Jacksonville.

Palestine woman,
Troup man killed in
separate wrecks
Two persons were killed in
two separate accidents in
Cherokee County Nov. 6. Killed
were a 54-year-old Palestine
woman and a 30-year-old
Troup man.
Ryndae Halter, 54, of Pales-
tine ran off the roadinher Nis-
san four-door vehicle and hit
an 18-wheeÍer, driven by Juan
Palomares. Mr. Palomaréswas
not injured, but Ms. Halter
was pronounced dead at the
scene around 8 p.m.
The accidentoccurredat 7:20
p.m.. 3.9 miles west of Jackson-
ville on U.S. Highway 79.
State Highway 135 when he
collided with a Chevrolet,
chiven by Nicholas Brown,
30, of Troup. Mr. Brown was
the road.
Wink was transported to
EastTexasMedical Center. Mr.
Brown was pronounced dead al
Printice Wink, 24, was on traveling on the wrong side of the scene at 5:47 p.m.
Survivors are her five chil-
dren, Tommye Pickett of Rusk,
