Funeral for Don Carlos
McCullough, 78, was held
at Memorial Oaks Chapel in
Houston at 12:30 p.m. Satur-
day, April 16. Burial was in
Memorial Oaks Cemetery in
Houston.
Mr. McCullough died Sat-
urday, April 9. He was born
on March 18, 1927, to Luther
and Ginny McCull ough in Alto.
After a brief period of time in
the Navy Mr. McCullough
returned to East Texas,
where he attended Stephen
F. Austin State University in
Nacogdoches^ earning a degree
in business administration.
After graduation, he and his
new bride, Willie Carter, moved
to Houston where he began his
35-year career with The Texas
Company, later known as
Texaco. He retired in 1985.
Throughout his life, Mr.
McCullough was an avidgolfer,
and played regularly at Texaco
Country Club, until shortly
before his death.
He was preceded in death
by both parents, his brothers,
Harlon, Howell Lee, Blackie
and Kent andhis sister Thelma
Clinton.
Survivors are his wife of 57
years, Willie McCullough; two
daughters and sons-in-law,
Martha and Randy Woodley
and Carla and Randy Sandifer:
grandchildren Carrie Woodley
Derrick and husband Doug,
Derek Woodley and wife Regina,
Collin Sandifer and Karen
Sandifer; great-grandchildren
Anna and Abby Derrick, Sean

Funeral for Elvira Wise, 72, of
Wells, was at 10 a.m. Friday at
Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Home
chapel in Lufkin with the Rev.
Horace Fletcher and the Rev.
Jim Maddox officiating. Burial
was in Holsombaek Cemetery.
Mrs. Wise died April 11 in
Lufkin. She was born Oct. 8,
1932, in Victoria to the late
Raymond and Sara Acosta
Salazar. She was a home maker
and a member of the Calvary
Baptist Church.
Survivors are her husband,
Hugh Wise of Wells; two daugh -
ters, Gloria Buster of Lufkin
and Sara Cannon of Dallas;
two sons, Gilbert Garcia of Cor-
rigan and Mike Wise of Jasper;
three sisters, Pam Zapata and
Manuela Olivarez, both of
Houston and Emily Ordonez
of Galveston; two broth-
ers, Billy Salazar of Corpus
Christi and Manuel Salazar of
Houston; eight grandchildren:

great-grandchildren and other
relatives.

p.m., Friday at Autry Funeral
Home Chapel with the Rev.
Joe Pendleton, the Rev. James
Shine, the Rev. Charlie: Holmes
and the Rev, Michael Prescott
officiating. Burial followed in
Still Waters Memorial Gardens
adjacent to the funeral home.
Dr. McNeill died April 13.
He was born in Magnoha, Ark.
in March of 1938 to the late
Harold McNeill Sr. and Des-
sarine Paschal McNeill. He
graduated from Waldo, Ark.
High School and attended
Southern State College for two
years when he felt God's call-
ing. He attended Jacksonville
College and graduated with a
Bachelor of Arts degree from
Baylor University in Waco in
1961. He graduated from the
BMA Seminary in Jacksonville
in 1964withaBachelorofDivin-
ity and Ma ster of Religiou s E du-
cation Degree.
Dr. McNeill earned a Master
of Arts from Wheaton College
and a Master of Theology from
Northern Baptist Seminary.
He received a Doctor of Min-
istry from Texas Christian
University in 1973. He was
a full-time instructor at BMA
Seminary from 1967-1972,
where he had continued as a
part-time instructor the past
27 years.

Miss Crawford was born
March 10, 1990 in Lufkin, to
Robbie and Judy Melissa Wilson
Crawford. She died Tuesday.
April 12, from injuries sustained
in an automobile accident.
She was a freshman at Wells
High School, where she was a
cheerleader. She was involved
in the youth group of the Alto
First Baptist Church and was
a member of Calvary Baptist
Church at Wells.
Survivor s include her parents,
Robbie and Judy (Lisa) Crawford
of Wells; three sisters, Jacklyn
Pressley, Sheena Crawford and
Sabrina Crawford, all of Wells;
maternal grandmother, Judy
Funeral for Tom White, 74,
of Jacksonville, was at 2 p.m.
Thursday at Autry Funeral
Home Chapel with the Rev.
Kevin King officiating.
Burial was in Rest-
haven Memorial Park in
Jacksonville.
Mr. White died April 11 after
a long battle with cancer. He
was born on Aug. 9, 1930, in
Manilla, Ohio, to the late
James and Margaret White.
He was a veteran serving in
both the Army and Army Air
Corps.
Mr. White was manager
of Nichols Kusan for several
years.
Mr. White was also manager
of Western Pulp for 18 years.
He was a past member of the
Kiwanis Club in Jacksonville,
a member of the Texas Nurs-
eryman Association, and a
member of the Texas Manu-
facturing Association.
Survivors include his wife,,
Marge White of Jacksonville;
two sons and a daughter-in-law

Mr. McNair died April 12 in
Tyler* Hfe was born Feb. 7,1939,
in Garrison. He was a retired
foreman for the Rusk State
Hospital motor pool, former
service manager for Isaacs
Motors and a Methodist.
Survivors are his wife,
Arlene McNair of Rusk; a son
and daughter-in-law, Scott
and Dolores McNair of Rusk;
two daughters and sons-in-
law, Dana and Don Wallace
of Jacksonville and Tracy
and Gary Corley of Rusk; 13
grandchildren, Deidra and
Dustin Wallace; Lisa, Tiffany,
Aaron and Candáce Corley;

Funeral Home chapel with the

Burial was in Fairview
Cemetery. Mrs. Newman died
Tuesday in Mexia.
She Was born Dec. 31, 1913,
in Nacogdoches to William and
Mary Mahan Scarborough.
She was a homemaker and
a Methodist. She had lived in
Alto for several years before
moving to Buffalo where she
lived for the past eight years.
Preceding her in death was
her husband. Jack Newman.

Rev. James Fuller officiating.
Burial was in Henry Cemetery
under the direction of Mercy/
McGowan Funeral Home.
Mr. Johnson died April 11 at
his home. He was born Feb.
26, 1916. He attended Elm
Grove schools,, was a laborer
and member of Mount Hebron
Presbyterian Church. Preced-
ing him in death were a brother
and four sisters. Survivors are
hiswife, Josie Johnson of Rusk;
a brother. Will Richard Johnson
of Houston; and a sister, Mir-
intha Wiston of Tyler.

Fundraiser slated
An aluminum can fundraiser to ben-
efit Relay for Life 52 for employees at
Rusk State Hospital is planned for April
27. A collection truck will be parked at
the front parking lot for the benefit of
those bringing cans.
