Mac Parsons
Funeral for McDonald' (Mac)
Parsons, 82, of Alto was at 4 p.m.
Sunday in the Lynches Chapel
United Methodist Church with the
Rev. Noy Pruitt and the Rev. Dr.
Randy Fitzgerald officiating.
Burial was in the Lynches Chapel
Cemetery.
Mr. Parsons died Friday in Jack-
sonville. He was born April 20,
1917, in Alto to James Stephen
and Betty Dear Parsons. He had
lived in Alto most of his life. Mr.
Parsons was a member of the
Lynches Chapel United Method-
ist Church and administrative
board of the church. He served in
the U.S. Army in World War II in
the 75 Division Engineering
Batallion as a sergeant. He was
awarded four battle stars and one
French citation.
Mr. Parsons was a charter mem-
ber and former director of the C oon
Pond Hunting Club. He was a re-
tired worker for Texas Forest Ser-
vice in the Research Department.
He was preceded in death by two
brothers, Johnny and Frank Par-
sons and two sisters, Kitty Jo Par-
sons and Ora Jane Kilgore.
Survivors are his wife. Eva Mae
Parsons of Alto; two sons and
daughters-in-law, Donald Lee and
Jane Parsons of Alto and Larry
and Láveme Parsons of Lufkin;
two sisters, Fannie Mae Chapman
of Alto and Lillian Landrum of
Alto; four grandchildren. Tim Par-
sons. Patricia McStay, Brett Par-
sons and Scott Parsons; three
great-grandchildren. Erica
McStay, Lexi McStay and Cole
McStay.

Hassell, Glenn Hassell. Cal
Hassell, Gerald Lively. Mitchell
Huff. Jake Vermillion, Jamie
Smith and Summers Hassell. Hon-

Wilcox, 84, was at 10 a.m. Wednes-
day at Wallace-Thompson Funeral
Home Chapel with the Rev. Don
Copeland officiating. Burial was
in Russell Cemetery on FM 23.
Mr. Wilcox died Monday morn-
ing in Birmingham Health Care
Center. He was born Feb. 27,1915,
,in Cherokee County to J.W. (Bill)
and Emma E. Hutchins Wilcox.
He was a lifelong Bulah resident
and a member of the Union Hill
Baptist Church. He attended the
Memorial Missionary Baptist
Church. He served in U.S. Army
during World War II from 1943-45
as a military policeman.
. He was preceded in death by his
parents, J.W. (Bill) and Emma
Wilcox; three brothers, Delton Ray
Wilcox, John Hulen Wilcox and
Willie Donald Wilcox and a sister,
Odell Wilcox Watson.
Survivors are four brothers and
three sisters-in-law, Preston
Wilcox of Rusk, L. L. and Edna
Mae Wilcox of Rusk, Grady and
Katherine Wilcox of Rusk, Carl
and Billie Wilcox of Jacksonville;
six sisters and two brothers-in-
law. Amy Langston of Crosby,
Myrtie Arl ington of Irving, Lora
and Buol Caperton ofTyler, Lorene
Hardy of Crockett, Jane Naski of
Jacksonville and Vernene and
Bonnie Odom of Conroe; numer-
ous nieces and nephews.
Nephews served as pallbearers.
Ifdesired memorial maybe made
to Memorial Missionary Baptist
Church, Route 5, Box 224, Rusk
Viola Thomas
Graveside service for Viola Tho-
mas, 87, of Rusk will be at 10 a.m.
Thursday at Salem Cemetery with
the Rev. Don Copeland officiating.
Arrangements will be under the
direction ofW allace-Thompson Fu-
neral Home.
I Mrs.-Thomas died Monday in
University of Texas Health Cen-
ter at Tyler. She was born Dec. 10,
1911, in Mixon and had lived in
Rusk for 45 years. She formerly
resided in Houston and Lufkin.
She was a Methodist. She was
employed as a waitress at Stover
Cafe in Rusk for several years, a
laundry attendant at Mark's Speed
Wash in Rusk for 20 years and in
Rusk State Hospital food service
for nine years.
Mrs. Thomas was preceded in
death by her husband, W.E. Tho-
mas.
Survivors are a brother,
Lawrence E. Thurman of Lufkin;
three nephews, Larry Thurman of
Louisiana, Ronnie Thurman of
Canada and Kenny Thurman of
Lufkin; one niece, Sherry Hearne
of Lufkin; and special friends,
Tommy and Billie Ready of Rusk.
If desired memorials may be
made to the church or charity of
choice.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m.
Wednesday at the funeral home.
