Betty Carol Reece Cardwell
Funeral for Betty Carol Reece
Cardwell, 57, of Reklaw was at 2
p.m. Sunday in the Reklaw First
Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry
Wallis officiating. Burial was in
the Russell Cemetery.
Mrs. Cardwell was born in
Murkel on April 19,1941. She was
a homemaker and retired as a
nursing home food service admin-
istrator. She was a member of the
Reklaw Baptist Church.
Survivors are her husband of 25
years, Don Cardwell, of Reklaw;
an adopted son, Joe (Butch)
Costlow of New Salem; two sis-
ters, Edith Nell Work of Jackson-
ville and Florieda Gleason of Jack-
sonville; two brothers, Jimmy
Clarence Reece of Rusk and
Michael McCarty Reece of
Henderson; two daughter, Donna
Sharline Cates of Reklaw and
Rachel Gail Sullivan of Henderson;
three grandchildren and several
nieces and nephews.
Nephews served as pallbearers.
John Weldon Tyer
Funeral for John Weldon Tyer,
82, of Alto was at 10 a.m. Tuesday
in the O.T. Allen & Son Funeral
Home Chapel with the Rev. David
M. Rogers officiating. Burial was
in the Weches Cemetery.
Mr. Tyer died Sunday in Tyler.
He was born May 8, 1916, in Au-
gusta to William A. and Mary
Ferguson Tyer. He had lived in
Alto for more than 30 years. He
was a U.S. Army veteran of World
War II, had been a truck driver for
35 years and also worked for Waller
Funeral Home in Crockett and was
an Assembly of God veteran.
Survivors are his wife, Georgia
Mae Tyer of Alto; a son, John D.
Tyer of Lufkin; two daughters,
Marlyn Tyer of Alto and Tammy
Lindsey of Tennessee Colony; two
brothers, Howard Tyer of Alto and
W.A. Tyer of Rusk; two sisters,
Grace Lee Peterson of Pasadena
and Hazel Dishong of Weches; 11
grandchildren; 17great-grandchil-
dren; and two great-great-grand-
children.
Grandsons and nephews served
as pallbearers.
Vera Harrelson Middleton
Funeral for Vera Harrelson
Middleton, 90, of Athens, was at
10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Carroll-
Lehr Funeral Home Chapel in Ath-
ens with the Rev. Perry Eaton of-
ficiating. Graveside services and
burial followed at 2:30 p.m. at the
Antioch Cemetery in Houston
County near Lovelady.
Mrs. Middleton died Oct. 18 in
East Texas Medical Center Ath-
ens. She was born Nov. 9,1907, in
Houston County to the late Herbert
and Berta Mae Thornton
Harrelson. Mrs. Middleton was a
Cherokee County resident for 44
years, where she and her husband
farmed and managed the Rusk
Motel in Rusk for 16 years before
retiring.
She had been an Athens resi-
dent for two years. She was a mem-
ber of the Athens First Baptist
Church.
Mrs. Middleton was preceded in
death by her husband, Frank L.
Middleton, and a son, Billy W.
Middleton.
Survivors are two sons and
daughters-in-law, Hayne and Bar-
bara Middleton of Bay Point, Ca-
lif. and Dan and Kathy Middleton
of Athens; a brother, Herbert
Harrelson Jr. of Lovelady; 11 sis-
ters, Chrystal Little, Lennie Mor-
gan, Ruhama Zarski and Odessa
Wilson, all of Sheppard, Berta Mae
Hyde of Lovelady, Bonnie Gilbert
and Rosa June Price both of Trin-
ity, Ella Andrews and Marjorie
Johnson, both of Huntsville,
Frances Commando and Esther
Lawson, both of Crockett; a daugh-
ter-in-law, Betty Middleton of
Rusk; nine grandchildren and 10
great-grandchildren.

Angelien Francis teat
A service of remembrance for
Angelien Francis Teat, 72, of Long-
view will beheld at 1 p.m. Nov. 7 at
the Longview First United Meth-
odist Church. Arrangements are
under the direction of Heritage
Funeral Home of Longview.
Mrs. Teat was born Oct. 8,1926,
in Rusk and died of cancer on Oct.
19 in Dallas. While living in Rusk,
she was a deaconess in the First
Christian Church. After moving to
Longview, she became an active
member of the First United Meth-
odist Church. She was commercial
investment real estate broker.
Mrs. Teat is survived by two
sons, Herb and James Teat; a
daughter, Adonna Teat; one grand-
son, Jameson Teat of Dallas; a
sister, Rose Clifton of Austin; two
brothers, Richard Francis of Mas-
cot, Tenn. and Danny Francis of
Austin; two aunts, Miriam Francis
of Atlantic Beach, Fla. and Ruby
Francis of Longview; several
nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Teat was preceded in death
by her parents, Jewell and Grace
Francis; her sister, Juanita Roach;
and an infant son, Charles Wesley
Teat.
In lieu of flowers, the family re-
quest that donations be made in
her name for cancer research at
BHCS Foundation, 3600 Gaston
Ave., Suite 100, Dallas 75246.

doches. She was a retired school-
teacher and a member of the Mount
Pleasant CME Church, Cherokee

Rasberry, 63, of Longview was at 2
p.m. Friday, Oct. 16 in the
Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel
at Longview with the Rev. Dick
Stagner officiating.
Mrs. Rasberry was the sister of
Dan McNair of Rusk.
She died Oct. 13 in a Longview
hospital. She was born Nov. 24,
1934, in Arlam, Tx. She graduated
from Garrison High School and
later owned and operated a beauty
salon there. She has spent the last
30 years in Longview, where she
was a homemaker and a member
of Greggton United Methodist
Church.

death by her husband, Jim

lage, Ark., formerly of De Queen,
Ark. was at 10 a.m. Monday in the
Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel

Rogers and Andy Tarrant officiat-
ing. Burial was in the Mount Ida
Cemetery. Mrs. Taggart was the
mother of Lynn Taggart of Rusk.
Mrs. Taggart was born Aug. 24,
1906, in De Queen. She was a
member of the Rose Hill Baptist
Church.
She was preceded in death by
her husband, Marvin Taggart and
three sons, Leo, Bobby and Jerry
Don Taggart.
Survivors are two sons and
daughters-in-law, Quinton and
Shirley Taggart of De Queen and
Lynn and Lois Taggart of Rusk; a
daughter and son-in-law, Helen
and Hugh Taylor of Hot Springs
Village; three daughters-in-law,
