Special to the Cherokeean/Herald
The Texas/Oklahoma District of
Kiwanis International has compiled
a cookbook, "A Pinch of Salt," as a
fundraiser for the Worldwide Ser-
vice Project-Iodine Deficient Dis-
order. This deficiency causes mental
retardation in children and goiters
in adults. This is a serious problem
in many countries, but the deficiency
can be eradicated by the year 2000
by adding a trace of iodine to their
salt.
The recipes in the cookbook are
from Kiwanis Club members from
all of the Texas/Oklahoma District
including many from Rusk and sur-
rounding communities.
Persons who would like to pur-
chase a cookbook can do so by calling
903/683-4605 or writing P.O. Box 6,
Rusk 75785. Price is $10 each. All
proceeds from the sale will go to this
project.
