Cherokee County Soil and Water
Conservation District has a large
number of agricultural producers
who have such limited resources
that they are unable to adequately
care for the land, according to Bill
Cromer, District Conservationist

Service.
These limited resource producers
are farmers, ranchers and garden-
ers who own or operate small par-
cels of land, generally - but not
limited to, 50 acres or less and have
an apparent need of assistance to
help them achieve an improved
standard ofliving from farm income
and conserve their natural re-
sources.

recently established a Limited Re-
source Specialist to assist limited
resource producers in Cherokee,
Smith, Anderson, Nacogdoches,

ers with the planning and applica-
tion of conservation practices. He
will also assist with information on

available assistance in cooperation
with Prairie View A&M University,

changes in USDA programs, poli-
cies and benefits which may affect
both present and future decisions
made on the farm or ranch.
