MR. AND MRS. ELDON J. TUBBE of Reklaw will celebrate
their 50th wedding anniversary at a reception Sat., June 24 in
the Fellowship Hall at Reklaw Baptist Church where they are
members. Friends and relatives will call from 2 to 4 p.m. Mr.
Tubbe married the former Floy Lee Wallace on June 29, 1939.
They were married by the late Rev. Hargis in his home at
Nacogdoches. Mr. 1'ubbe retired from the Houston Indepen-
dent School District and Mrs. Tubbe retired from Nabisco
Brands Inc. in Houston. They moved back to Reklaw where
they have made their home since 1981.

to Reading Club
The Rube Sessions Memorial
Library is into its second week of
the Summer Reading Club
Program which is held from 2:30 to
S p.m. each Tuesday at the library.
The program will continue through
July 25, and is for all elementary
age children. Children under four
years of age must be accompanied
by an adult.
"Creature Features" is the
theme for this year. Creatures from
tJ realm of fantasy and fairytale
involving wonder, imagination and
magical transformation will be en-
joyed by the children. A Certificate
of Participation will be presented to
all children who read ten or more
books on their reading level. They
#ill have through August 31 to com-
lítete their reading program. All
children are invited to attend.
All of the 1989 Texas Bluebonnet
Award books, including the
Newberry Honor book "After the
Rain;" the Newberry Medal Award
book, "Lincoln, A
Photobiography;" The Caldecott
Honor book "Mufaro's Beautiful
Daughters," and the Caldecott
Medal award book "Owl Moon,"
are available.

youths attending a swimming party June 11 at the Bobby Jack Parsons residence rescued a
drowning youngster. Brannon Rogers, 10, had allegedly sunk to the bottom of the pool when the two
pulled him out of the water and administered CPR. Both the Walker youngsters are employed by the
East Texas Employment and Training program. They are the children of Johnny Walker of Pasadena
and Darlene Walker of Rusk.

scholarships to a number of univer-
sities but has selected Baylor
University. He plans to major in
chemistry with a minor in math. He
is the son of David and Sarah
Guetersloh of Lubbock and the
grandson of Burdine and Mildred
Looney of Alto.
Guetersloh received the Carr
Academic Scholarship to San
Angelo State; Presidential Scholar-
ship to Rose-Huleman Institute of
Technology in Indiana and NHS
Scholarship to West Texas State
University.
He served as president of his
freshman class and treasurer of his
sophomore and junior classes. A

since his sophomore year, he ser-

Soverign Grace Baptist Church.
Conrad Munell of Bentley, La. is
guest speaker for the 7:30 p.m. ser-
vices.
Members of the church invite the
public to attend these special ser-
vices. The church is located on Loop
343 in Rusk.
Woman named
to position
at UT Health Center
Jo Williford has been appointed
manager of physician relations for
the University of Texas Health Cen-
ter at Tyler to coordinate hospital
activities with referring physicians.
She formerly was administrative
assistant to state representative
Allen Hightower of Huntsville. She
and her husband, Larry, who is em-
ployed by the Texas Parks and
Wildlife in Rusk as regional law en-
forcement director, live in
Jacksonville. They have a son,
Greg, who is a senior at UT Austin.

Geometry awards. As a junior, he

Chemistry I, Physics, English III,
Spanish II and Algebra II awards.
Senior honors included Data
Processing, Advanced Math,
English IV, Government,
Chemistry II, Calculus and
Economics awards.
Active in athletics, he played golf
as a freshman and ran track as a
freshman and sophomore. He
played football and basketball in all
four years. Athletic honors include
earning reagional competition in
the 3200 rim as a freshman and
sophomore. He was named All
Disrict Defensive Linebacker, All
District Academic Football, All
District Basketball and All District
Academic Basketball.
Selected as a senior for Basket-
ball King, he was also chosen Most
Handsome.

Rusk VFD

Four units and 11 firemen were
called to a house fire east of Reklaw
on US 84 at 3:45 a.m. on Friday. A
double wide mobile home was
destroyed by the time Rusk firemen
arrived.
Six firemen and two units respon-
ded to a two vehicle accident at the
intersection of US 69 and FR 343 at
1:30 p.m. on Friday. Minor injuries
and heavy damage to both vehicles
resulted from the wreck.
At 7:30 Sunday morning Jackson-
ville called RUSK VFD for
assistance in fighting a warehouse
fire off of South Bolton Street. Four-
teen firemen and two units an-
swered the call.
Eight firemen and two units went
to a grass and woods fire behind the
Cosmic Drive Inn Sunday evening.
At 11:14 p.m. Sunday Rusk assisted
Gallatin VFD fighting a fire at the
old Gallatin gym. The building and
contents were destroyed.
