measures designed to improve
educational standards.
Law school Dean Bill Piatt had
matters that required him to be in
Dallas, and was not available for
comment at the time of press.
However, Vincent R. Johnson,
associate dean for Academic and
Student Affairs and professor of
Law assures the student body that
scores will improve.
The law school's passage rate
for the February 2004 graduates
taking the bar exam was only 50
percent.
Johnson admits that the scores
"have been weaker than they
should be for several years now."

resource called "Career Zone,"
which is available through the St.
Mary's website.
Before its creation, students
had to physically go to Career
Services Center to attain informa-
tion regarding internships and
other information regarding
careers, but now there is an online
engines like Monster.com, Career
Zone is an automated site specifi-
cally fitted to the needs of the St.
Mary's community. Current stu-
dents, alumni, and employers are
invited to utilize the resources free
of charge. The site is user-friend-
ly and all one must do is register

est in St. Mary's University

Central Intelligence Agency
(CIA), and Southwestern Bell

"The most important skills
employers are looking for are
communication skills, both writ-
ten and verbal. Of course GPAs
are important but experience can
sometimes override grades," said
