Eagles Win 3-1 Tuesday

Chip Hart ended an extra
innings game Tuesday af-
ternoon at Dickinson Field
with a towering home run
that gave the Rusk Eagles
a 3-1 win over visiting Fair-
field.
Hart's blast came with
Calvin Henderson aboard
to give the home town fans
playoff hopes as Crockett
was losing late in their ball
game.
Fairfield went ahead 1-0
in the second inning. The
lone Fairfield run came
with one out when Jimmy
Lee singled for the first
Eagle hit. Darrell Ezell,
the designated hitter,
blasted a double in the

Rusk tied the game with
a run in the bottom of the
fifth inning with the benefit
of a walk and two errors.
Calvin Henderson led off
the eighth inning with a
single setting the stage for
Hart's heroics.

speaker for the 2:30 p.m.
Sunday graduation exer-
cises for Rusk Head State
students at the Rusk Junior
High School auditorium.
Mrs. Bagley is presently
employed as a adult
probation officer for Rusk
County at Henderson. She
is a former head start
director and a member of
the regional training office
in Denton.
A total of 21 children will
graduate from the Rusk
Head Start program.

for VFW Post 8908 Ladies
Auxiliary will be held at
7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 25
at the VFW Post in Alto.
All members, their
families and guests are en-
couraged to attend. Mem-

Set
The fifth annual Rusk
Kiwanis Golf Tournament
is set for Saturday at the
Birmingham Golf Course
on Highway 69 south of
Rusk. Tee time is 10:30
a.m.
Entry fee is $15 per per-
son. The event will feature
one service club prize for
four man team. There will
also be flights with three
winners in each flight.
Reservations can be
made with the Rusk
Kiwanis Club, P.O. Box
163 - 75785, prior to May 20.
Handicap should be in-
cluded with reservations.
More information can be
obtained at 683-4021.
School
Conducting
Survey
The Rusk Independent
School District is making a
survey of families that
have moved into the Rusk
District in the last five
years seeking employment
in Agriculturely related
employment.
This includes pulp wood
cutting and hauling: plant
farms; and milk produc-
tion jobs. Also included are
people, who have been
unable to find this type em-
ployment and are working
in other areas at this time.
Persons who have moved
into the Rusk District
within the last five years
and have not been contac-
ted should call Rita Dyess,
683-4630 or the school office
at 683-4421.
This is not an immigrant
survey and they will not be
contacted by government
officials, according to Mrs.
Dyess It is a program to
allow the Rusk School to
better meet the needs of the
students in helping them
master needed skills for
progress.
