Study Club Plans Year
The Rusk Library Study Club
met Tuesday afternoon for
their first meeting of the year
at the Singlelary Memorial
Library.
Mrs. Pinson, president led a
discussion of future plans for
both the club and the library.
Interesting programs for the
year are on "Our American
Heritage."

recently notified that she is to
be featured in the eighth
Annual Edition of Who's Who
Among American High School
Students, 1973-74, the largest
student award publication in
the nation.
Students from over 20.000
public, private and parochial
high schools throughout the
country are recognized for
their leadership in academics,
athletics, activities or com-
munity service in the books.
Less than three per cent of the
junior and senior class
students nationwide are a-
warded this recognition.
Debra is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. William C. Wayland
of Rusk, previously of Broken
Arrow, Oklahoma and Memp-

With Soloist
Mrs. Mouzon Fletcher and
Mrs. Allen Holley hosted the
meeting of the Rusk Thalian
Club Thursday in the parlor of
the First United Methodist
Church.
Mrs. Gloria Dotson intro-
duced Miss Shirley Williams,
music teacher at Rusk Ele-
mentary School. Miss Williams
presented a delightful pro-
gram. Accompanied by Mrs.
Dotson, Miss Williams sang
several popular songs and the
hymn "Crucifixion."
Following the program re-
freshments of cake, ribbon
sandwiches, nuts, coffee and
tea were served to the
members and guests.

man, James Fisher, Mouzon
Fletcher, Bill Holland, Allen
Holley, Fred Lunsford, Frank

Celebrates Birth
Rebecca Lynn Keels, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel J.
Keels of Piano celebrated her
first birthday at the home of
his, Tennessee. She is active in
the choir and girls' triple trio,
church activities and has a
her grandparents Mr. ana Mrs.
Ernest D. Keels in Alto.
Enjoying the festivities with
the honoree were her great
grandparents Mrs. Frank
Griffith of Minneapolis, Min-
nesota and Mr. and Mrs. E. J.
Keels of Rusk.

She has also received honors
and awards in music, scholas-
tic, sports and sewing.
In addition to having her
biography published in the
book, Debra. will also compete
for one of ten scholarship
awards of $500 to $1,000 funded
by the publishers and will be
invited to participate in the
firm's annual "Survey of High
Achievers."
Debra plans to attend a
Christian college upon gradua-
tion in June. She attended Lon
Morris College in Jacksonville
this past summer, earning her
freshman college English
credit.
The Rusk Lioness Club had
their regular monthly meeting
at noon Thursday, Sept. 12 in
the New Southern Motor Hotel.
Mrs.Arlyne McNair was the
hostess and Mrs. Margie
Dupree won the hostess gift.
