ing, said Sgt. Kyle.
"We hope to cooperate with
{officials in rodeo festivities
that day," commented Sgt. Kyle.
"Since the discharge date and
the launching of the rodeo co-
incide, we hope that everyone
who plans to attend the tradi-
tional Rodeo parade at 5 p.m.
in downtown Rusk, will arrive
30 minutes earlier, in time for
the National Guard Service at
: 4:30," he added.
He continued, "this is the
first time a National Guard unit
has been mustered out of Fed-
eral service as a unit, since the
Mexican Border incident in
1916."
Similar services will be held
in some 74 cities of Texas,
whose servicemen are members
| of the 49th Armored Division.
The Rusk unit is properly iden-
tified as Company A, 2nd Arm-
ored Rifle Battalion, 144th In-
fantry, 49th Armored Division.

D. J. Gaudin makes his home
in Teague, with his wife Joyce
and two sons, Todd Lee, age 10
and Jack David, 7.
Originally from Baton Rouge,
which explains his stage name,
the Kid has worked his way up
to national fame.
Last year he appeared at all
the major rodeos, including
Fort Worth, Houston, San An-
tonio, Madison Square Garden,
The Cow Palace in San Francis-
co and Boston Garden.
Among numerous honors
which came his way in 35 ro-
deos last year, he was elected
clowns in all good Rodeos. Coming to Rusk for its 14th an-
nual Lions Club RCA Rodeo is D. J. Gaudin, better known to
rodeo fans as the "Kajun Kidd."
Watch Your Step!
one of two clowns to work in
the National Finals Rodeo.
In his 10th year as a profes-
sional, he has worked in every
state of the union, from the
largest to the smallest shows.
And, like most in the rodeo
business, he hopes to retire to
by the top 20 bullfighters as a small ranch some day and
raise cattle.
That is still quite a distance
around the corner for him, and
in the meantime, Rodeo fans of
the area can look forward to
his appearance here August 9-
10-11, in the Lawrence Winfrey
produced three nighter.
