Mrs. F. M. (Fred) Goodson, a
resident of La Porte, died
Thursday, July 13 in a Galves-
ton hospital where she h a d
been taken Thursday morning
after becoming seriously ill
while working in her flower
bed.
A native of Cherokee County,
Mrs. Goodson was the daughter
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thel-
ston Holcomb of Alto.
•Survivors include two daugh-
ters, Mrs. Paul Hultquist of La
Porte and Mrs. Carl Winsted of
National City, California; four
grandchildren, Mrs Terry Gray
of San Antonio, Miss Marlyn
Hultquist of La Porte, Johnny
Woods, serving in the Armed
I Forces in England, David Win-
! sled of National City, California;
one brother, Tom Holcomb of
Rusk: one sister, Mrs. Ruth
Weaver of Tyler; two sisters-in-
law. .Mrs. Ocie Denney and Mrs.
Gladys Goodson, both of Rusk.
Funeral services were held
Saturday. July 15 at La Porte
Methodist Church. Burial was in
the Shilo Cemetery near Alto.

Mr. A. K. Bice, an employee
of the Rusk State Hospital and
layman in the Camp Ground
Baptist Church, Rt. 2, Alto, was
speaker for the regular service
at Camp Ground Sunday, July 9.
A pastor patron of the Alto
Chapter of the Eastern Star.
Mr. Bice spoke on "Love and
Hate" using John 3:16 as a
text. He supplied the pulpit in
the absence of pastor. Rev.
Gene Tomlin who is ill.
Services at Camp Ground are
held on the second and fourth
Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. Mr.
Kermit Welch, formerly of
Cherokee County and the Alto
area, will be guest speaker for
the next regular service.

chusetts, Lillian Dolde of Albu-
querque, N.M., and Mary Jor-
dan of Alabama.

Convention of the om.nization
to be held in Rochester, N.Y.,

Mrs. Neighbors is widely
known for her professional
achievements and banking hon-
ors. She is a former officer of i
the Bank Women Association.
Thirteen girls participated in
the Dress Revue for negro 4-H
Club members at State Camp
near Huntsville July 11.
Shirley Bowens received the
first-place blue ribbon award
and a prize of a pair of shears
for her two piece sport gar-
ment.
Barbara Pierce of Cuney and
Eldree Scott of Jacksonville at-
tended the camp at Huntsville
with the Home Demonstration
agent, Dorothy Rambo.
