Krossroad Kaper
To Be Sponsored
By B&PW Club
Todny tho Rusk Business & Pro-
fessional Women's Club announc-
ed arrangements have been com-
pleted for the b i g professional
stage show, "Krossroad Kapers"
which will bring the stars of tho
country music field here for an
evening of entertainment which
includes country music, religious
Kongs, community singing and a
big square dance. All the thrills
of exciting country music will
make this show the top entertain-
ment event of the year.
The show will be presented at
the High School auditorium on tho
night of Thursday, Nov. 6 at 8:00
o'clock and the proceeds will be
■used for the benefit of the B&PW
Club.
Dude Fellows, star of the show,
is a nationally known entertainer
and a top flight artist who needs
no introduction. Featured in a re-
cent issue of Country Song Round-
up Magazine, he has appeared on
most of the leading Radio and TV
Country Music shows. Born in the
Ozarks — the home of country
music— h i s arrangements carry
the authenticity of the old fash-
ioned hoe-down and still are mod-
ernized to create a toe • tapping,
hand clapping rhythm that pleas-
es every audience.
Mrs. Mildred Fulton, committee
chairman, reports that their or-
ganization feels quite fortunate in
being able to bring Dude Fellows
and his Gang to Rusk for the en-
tertainment contains jokes, music
and fast, clean fun for the whole i
family.
Both adults and children will
find something of value in the
show. And it's the kind of whole-1
some show that everyone likes to J
see and enjoy.

OUR
CHANGING
AGRICULTURE
By Adon Duncan and C. J. Hagler,
Rusk and M ydelle Vocational
Agriculture Instructors
(Ed. Note: This is the second in
a series of articles.)
High school vocational agricul-
ture programs are making a valu-
able contribution toward develop-
ing scientific farmers. Modern
farming demands that farmers
have a scientific knowledge of
such things as insect and disease
control of crops and livestock,
fertilization of crops, operation of
motors, etc. In high school voca-
tional agriculture programs, train-
ing in these scientific aspects o£
farming is provided for youths
preparing to become farmers. Too,
such training is available to ad-
ult farmers.
Each high school student enroll-
ed in vocational agriculture at
Rusk and Maydelle High Schools
receives approximately seven
hours of instruction each week ii*
various agricultural subjects.
These subjects pertain to the sci-
ence of producing crops and live-
stock, developing farm mechanics
skills in welding, electrification,
shop, farm buildings, conserva-
tion of soil and natural resources,
and farm machinery. Too, instruc-
tion for young and adult farmers
is provided for those people who
are now engaged in farming.
Such scientific training in agri-
culture is no doubt largely respon-
sible for the high degree of per-
fection we have reached in Texa^
and the United States in produc-
ing farm commodities. This per-
fection also is making a very im-
portant contribution to our na-
tional economy and to the na-
tional leadership the United Stat-
es is able to demonstrate among
world powers. History has demon-
strated that for a country to be
world leader, she must have a
strong program of agriculture.
Consequently, it is important that
we train an adequate number of
scientific farmers to produce the
food and fiber needed by our peo-
/ple. And even though we will
need fewer farmers in the future,
these farmers that are needed
must be highly trained in the sci-
ence of agriculture.
