APPROPRIATION TO PAY THE EXPENSES OF TAKING THE
SCHOLASTIC CENSUS.
S. B. N. 5.] CHAPTER 28.
An Act making an appropriation for the State Superintendent of Public In.
struction for the purpose of paying the expenses of taking the scholastic
census in any district or locality when deemed necessary to do so by the
State Board of Education, and declaring an emergency.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Texas:
SECTION 1. There is hereby appropriated out of any fund in the
State Treasury not otherwise appropriated the sum of Four Thousand
($4,000.00) Dollars to be used by the State Superintendent of
Public Instruction to pay the necessary expenses in the taking of the
scholastic census in any district or locality in this State when it shall
be deemed necessary by the State Board of Education to take any
such scholastic census in the interest of the public welfare.
SEC. 2. The importance of this Act and the fact that in certain
instances school districts and localities have reported a greater number
of scholastics than they actually had in order to secure benefits
to which they are not entitled, creates an emergency and an imperative
public necessity demanding the suspension of the constitutional
rule requiring bills to be read on three several days in each house, and
that this Act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage,
and said rule is hereby suspended, and it is so enacted.
[NOTE.-The enrolled bill shows that the foregoing Act passed the
Senate, yeas 22, nays 4; and passed the House, no vote given.]

STATE: GOVERNMENT FOR TWO YEARS.

An Act making appropriation to pay salaries of judges, and the support
of the Judicial Department of the State Government for the two years,
beginning September 1, 1921, and ending August 31, 1923; and declaring
an emergency.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Texas:
SECTION 1. That the following sums of money, or so much thereof
as may be necessary, be and the same are hereby appropriated to pay
salaries of judges, and for the support of the Judicial Department
of the State Government, for the years ending August 31, 1922 and
August 31, 1923:
