The Evening Pilot Club of Baytown is preparing for their fundraiser which was resched-
uled to June 1. Tickets that were sold for the first dinner should be used on June 1. The
fundraiser was rescheduled due to the road closure leading to the Monument Inn where
it will be at 6 p.m. Pictured are Louise King, Janice Hudman and Kay Fregia holding items
to be sold in the silent auction. Proceeds from the annual fundraiser go directly to the
community projects chosen by club members.
Congrats to the 2019 Baytown Little League Minor 3 city champs Orioles! The team was
a perfect 14-0 for the season. “These kids gave heart every single game and all have
tremendous love for the game of baseball! It was an honor to coach these kids, they all
taught me something new every single day,” Manager Rene Cisneros said. In the front
row, from left, are Case Laird, Dylan Brown, Chris Zamora, Easton Luna, Lennox Cerda,
Liam Cisneros and Michael Gomez; in the middle row are Juan LeBron, Jayden Garcia,
Ismael Izagurrie, Eli Saunders and Damirion Ayrow; and in back are Miguel Gomez, Rene
Cisneros, Elias Izagurrie and Johnny Villanueva. Not pictured - coach Rick Rodriguez.

Goose Creek board approves
compensation for bad weather day
At a concise, six-minute special board meeting, the
Goose Creek CISD trustees approved revising the com-
pensation schedule, ensuring employees would be paid
for being off on a bad weather day.
On May 9, a severe thunderstorm caused street flood-
ing, wind damages and power outages. The next morn-
ing, many campuses and facilities were without pow-
er within the Goose Creek school district. The board
said district employees are not required to make up the
workday missed. In addition, in conjunction with the
Texas Education Code, the board decided that all em-
ployees would be compensated for the missed day.
Superintendent Randal O’Brien was present for the
meeting along with board members Richard Clem,
Howard Sampson, Jessica Woods and Ben Pape.
