Dear Erin,
My best friend is getting married at the end of
this semester. The woman he is marrying seems
cool enough, but I still think they are making a huge
mistake. They're too young, they don't have enough
money, and I'm worried that they are rushing into
something they aren't ready for. I don't think that my
friend realizes that once he gets married, everything
will change. No more late nights with the guys, no
more spur of the moment road trips, and obviously no
more picking up girls at the bars. How do I make my
best friend realize he is making the worst mistake
of his life? Help!
- Nick
Nick, dear; it sounds like you're more worried
about losing your wingman than you are about
your friend's personal welfare. Maybe they are
too young to get married, but that really isn't
your call to make. Now, if you truly feel that
your friend doesn't realize the magnitude of
the commitment he is about to make, then
maybe you should sit him down and talk
about it. Just don't go about it with the
intention of stopping the wedding. Even
though you "think" he doesn't compre-
hend that his days of bar-hopping and
one-night-stands are coming to a close,
I'm willing to bet that his flaneé will
make him understand pretty damn
quick (if she hasn't already).
I know it can be sad, watching your
friends do things like graduate from
college, get jobs, get married, have kids,
etc., but you can't stop it from happening. It's
admirable that you are so concerned about your
friend - although I suspect this has a lot more to
do with your life changing than his-you'll even-
tually have to accept the fact that things are going
to change.

Last day to
sign up for
water b-ball
By Nazli Prisk

Time's up! Wednesday is offi-
cially the last day to sign up for
water basketball at the Student
Recreation Center. This one-day
event will start around 5:30 p.m.
at the Recreation Center pool.
But why sign up?
"It's just a lot of fun," said
Jon Wilson, who works for
Intramurals at the center. "It
incorporates water and a bunch
of different elements for physical
activity"
Wilson said the game is free
to students, staff and faculty.
There will be a brief meeting
held before the game to explain
the rules. The people who signed
up will be split into two teams
to play against each other. The
game usually lasts about 30
minutes.
"It's not one of our top sports
right now," Wilson said. "We're
still trying to get the word out
for it. It's still in the growing
stages."
Pitt, folie decide African
name, birthplace for baby
CAPE TOWN, South Africa
(AP) - A local governor in
Namibia said Angelina Jolie and
Brad Pitt told him they will have
their baby in his country and
are considering giving the child
a Namibian name, a newspaper
reported Sunday.
Samuel Sheefeni Nuuyoma, the
governor of the Namibian prov-
ince where the couple is staying
at a heavily guarded lodge, said
he had breakfast Friday with
the two stars, according to The
Sunday Times of South Africa.
He said Jolie had made those
choices because "she loves
Namibia."
Namibian immigration offi-
cials confirmed earlier this
month that the couple and five
other people, including two
children, arrived in Walvis Bay
on a chartered jet from Paris,
prompting speculation their baby
will be born in Africa.
The couple has been shielded
from reporters by heavy security
at a secluded beach resort near
Walvis Bay, in an area where
Naimbia's desert sand dunes
descend spectacularly to the
sea.
But the Sunday Times carried
what it billed as "exclusive"
pictures of Jolie hugging 1-year-
old Zahara and Pitt carrying
sleeping Maddox, 4, to a sports
utility vehicle.
It also had a photograph of a
security official chasing a photog-
rapher along the beach.
The newspaper also said Pitt
had managed to e vade paparazzi
and go riding on an all-terrain
vehicle in the Namibian desert
and the couple and the two chil-
dren have visited various game
reserves and wildlife founda-
tions. Nuuyoma said he wanted
his guests to feel "at home and
free."
"Namibia is a country where
everyone has the right to freedom
of movement, and they must not
feel inhibited when they visit
this beautiful country of ours,"
he was quoted as saying by the
Sunday Times.
Nuuyoma could not imme-
diately be reached for more
comment.
The Namibian government,
anxious to keep its high-spending
visitors, has warned journalists
entering the country without a
valid work permit that they risk
arrest.
